I can just imagine what would happen on ARRSE if a Police forum I frequent started an RIP thread for the latest Bill Oddie trashed in the 'stan and someone posted "Oh well thats one less drunken chav at the weekend"/"Silly cnut trying to help Afghan people that couldnt give a fcuk" etc...
The usual dull as fcuk, wet, self important hermers will be on here starting a "Look there is another person that doesnt respect our brave boys - disgusting!!!!" outrage fest of a thread.
Don't put yourself down. I don't believe for a second you would start such a thread.Originally Posted by Bolo-Driller

He did his job and he died. Whilst I agree that RIP threads for plods are a little out of place on a military forum, I think the venom could have been held a little. There is a good chance this man was an ex soldier. In addition, many ex plod of a certain age read the army rumour service because of the way they were trained , having found the younger generation of coppers a little too intense. Some of you need to pull your necks in.
So are you saying that only Army related threads should be started on ARRSE forums?Originally Posted by smudge67

Whilst I have no love or trust of the plod this man did his job to the end and that alone deserves respect. R.I.P Officer

Surprises me how a thread which was started to inform people of the plod has turned into yet another bitch fest with the same old faces chucking the shiite around.
Reminder - this isnt the NAAFI and I hope that this blokes family and friends dont read this. I for one would like to distance myself from and state that some of the poison on here isnt widespread in the forces.
And before anyone blurts out the usual "gallows humour, squaddie humour" shiite - B*lloX to that.

Any death in service of the country is a loss no matter what uniform people wear. Rest In Peace my thoughts and prayers to his family.
A very sad old git who hates PFI's
Being a HATO in Cumbria, we work quite closely with the traffic police. His colleagues we have come into contact with since this terrible incident have had nothing but praise for him, stating he was a gent and a committed family man. He leaves behind a wife and 4 young children. I respectfully request that no vile banter and slagging off of the deceased takes place as I wouldn't like his family to read it. Many thanks for reading this.

Lets cut the bitch fest and have respect for a fellow uniformed comrade who gave his life for his job!!

Thanks lads, it's gratefully appreciated.

Sadly the days of cutting guys some slack due to them being "forces" have long gone, with the young uns more interested in getting wee gold stars in their notebooks for the amount of folks they charge/report.
I don't see this as in improvement. :(
It is better to remain silent and appear stupid than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt
This is very sad new , RIP My sincere sympathy to this police officers family ,friends and colleagues
If you hadn't frequented the fridge,
Your bulk would not have fcuked the bridge,
If you avoided chips and pies,
You wouldn't have reached that fcuking size,
But because of your love of a pizza sub,
You became the topic of a post by Chubb (see above)
RIP, it's a bit soggy in here, etc, tec.
Wrong place, wrong time. Shouldn't have happened, but it did.
I'm not an RIP walt like many seem to be, but that doesn't mean that I don't feel compassion for those who will feel the loss of a loved one.
It's not a joking matter. The bloke was doing his job - hindsight is a wonderful thing, IF he'd realised the risk, etc., etc... - and as a result fewer people are suffering the anguish that his family are going through.
Let's leave it at that, eh?
"Hurrah for the Works Group" just doesn't have the same ring...
"A volunteer is worth ten pressed men."
So, a TA battalion or nine Regular Guards battalions? Not a difficult choice, then (especially as we don't have nine Regular Guards battalions).
I am a number. I am not a free man.
