He didn't lay down his life for his friends. He was doing his job at the time, getting civvie fuckwits trying to get a good look of the floods away from a bridge that was under danger of collapsing. The bridge then collapsed, with him on it. I will stake a large sum of money that he never knew any of them, therefore they were not his friends.

So why did you feel the need to post an utterly irrelevant piece of quotation to mark this?

Yes, it's tragic. The bloke was killed trying to do his job. But the nauseating grief whore shite pedalled on this forum, with morons who never knew the bloke posting utter claptrap is beyond belief sometimes.

I worked at the police station Bill was at and still know most of the guys based there. Speaking with one of them today, he told me Bill was a gentleman who will be sadly missed.

As a retired plod, I can only but imagine what his wife and family are going through.

RIP mate. Once again, we did absolutely everything we could, and I hope your family have comfort in that.

    I bet he does
We should remember the tremendous contribution of the Queen Mother to the war effort:
As the BBC pointed out, she 'bravely remained in London beside her husband' during the war.
This contrasts sharply with the actions of my grandfather who, on the declaration of war immediately left his wife and children and pissed off, first to France, then North Africa, Italy, France (again) and finally Germany.
The shame will always be with us.

I think i'm correct that this is the current affairs, news and analysis section, not the NAAFI.

I think that a copper dying on duty does, just about rate the news these days. It doesn't have to be abou the Army to be on this site.

Go take your head for a sh!te.

But yeah, i agree that the little poem was a bit odd.
