Why's that then? Because I object to civvies preaching about remembrance? Fair enough...
No- because you flew off the handle having not read Civvie bird's post.
I have read her post several times and cannot see where she is 'holier than thou'.
Thanks :D
What with all the posts on the local paper's website, I was starting to think I'd done something awful, like bitten the head off a baby in public or something. (That was last week )

I did read her post, specifically: 'sorry if that makes me a minority blah blah blah people in the army risking their lives'. Well, guess what? Like a lot of people, I've lost people I know on ops and I couldn't give a flying fcuk about people carrying on normal jogging after the 2 minutes silence.

It drew a hell of a lot of comments, over 120 I think. Today's outrage over Mr Brown's letter has generated 66 so far, mostly people spouting the same old tripe, but it shows that there is strength of feeling over such matters.

"Sorry if that makes me a minority - but, do you know what I'm glad I said something, and I'd do it again, it's the least I can do to say thank you to those who are risking their lives to keep mine safe."
I dont see that as holier than thou, I cannot see what you are getting at, and frankly I cant be arrsed to disect the language involved in order to find it.

We also had a recent thread about " Clowns At The Cenotaph " where several old veterans made funny gestures towards the camera and this was on a par with p1ssing on a war memorial according to some people The number of posts on a topic doesn't reflect its importance
I too am an athiest (or would be if I could spell it) and I object strongly to the fact that remembering our war dead is always hi-jacked by god botherers.
Amen (oops) to that. Remembrance ceremonies should be secular events. If anyone wants to toddle off to do some religious chanting afterwards, that's fine.
