Bollocks. The Outlaws do not attend the Bulldog its an All England organised and run event. The Murder of Gerry Tobin occurred well away from the Bulldog on the Public Highway.The Outlaws knew that there was a significant chance that they would be able to catch their traget on the way home. There has been minimal trouble at the Bulldog during its entire history as it is policed by the HA.

So what are your proposing?

A) We scrap further and higher education.
No over 18 students = no drunk over-18 students pissing on war memorials.

B) Raise legal drinking age to 100.
Nobody legally able to drink thus being capable of sufficient unaided mobility to point percy at a war memorial.

C) Scrap war memorials.
No war memorials = no drunk students pissing on war memorials.

Another worthless oxyger thief student who should have his course stopped,and made to dig coal by hand instead.

While what this chap did is despicable, I can't help but feel yet again people are busy making outrageous comments about coal digging and banning him from university. We have all done things we are not proud of, in varying degrees of seriousness. This is a middling offence, urinating in public is currently what - an £80 fine? Furthermore, the Prosecution and judge ought to make an example of him to reinforce a little moral fibre and sentence him accordingly.

However, he's apologised, the media have grabbed the story as evidence of the "horrendous moral decay" of the UK and ARRSe is busy decrying students across the country as long haired anti-war, anti-soldier hippy cnuts. Don't we have better things to do - I don't think he'll be doing it again somehow, and will certainly be punished for it.

Or of course we could to mutter "in my day" and "outrageous" in the style of the Fast Show?

I have had a reply from the University this morning:

Whilst the University is not responsible for the actions of individual students, we do not condone this student’s behaviour in any way.

The University has a rigorous disciplinary procedure in place. In cases where there are also criminal proceedings, we follow national guidelines and do not hold disciplinary hearings until the criminal case has been concluded. However, we have started the disciplinary process for this student.

I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that the actions of this one student do not represent Hallam’s 30,000 strong student community. We work closely with the Students’ Union, City Council, police and other community organisations all year, in order to promote good community relations and safe drinking.

Not fussed about your spelling, or grammer, mine can be off on occaision, or your native (if abroad) or 2nd tongue (if in Britain).

You are obviously much better informed than me, but I think the Tobin murder is one of the reasons for police nervousness about these events. Anyway... back to the topic
