And you think the national debt in the 1980's went down how? Happy thoughts?

I haven't been asked anything. I made a comment, the local drones talked balls.
But you did not expand on it when asked to explain why you had said it, a bit like using a subordinate clause without the remainder of the sentence, you are often asked to expand on your postings but tend not to which does make me wonder why you enter the posts that you do, it would make for much better debates, also you would then have recourse to give some grief to the insult brigade that see you as just an apologist

I said it because the locals are rather quick to criticise when some bits and bobs get sold, but tend to have a bout of amnesia when they are asked to think about why the national debt fell so much in the late 1980s.

Re: For Sale (that is The United Kingdom or parts thereof)
IIRC the thread is about Brown's fire sale to raise £3Bn of the total of 16Bn to be announced tomorrow (but in true New Labour fashion splashed to the press the day before, and certainly not announced where it should be - in Parliament.
What has debt in the '80's to do with this thread, and incidentally most of that was repaying IMF and other loans created by the last Labour Government to leave power in 1979.

Balls, again. The crisis, or should I say 'crisis', was long passed by the time they started the 1980's privatisation.

It does seem that you sound off in an attempt to pull the thread away from the initial direction, that happens to all debates as they evolve on their own. But often they are very short and often not completely relevant, the begining of this was do we have anything left to sell, as when these last items go we have nothing left the cupboard even for a light snack

To a point I agree, but these threads do tend to be hijacked by people who have to go to the dictionary to find the word 'context'.
