Seriously, has there been any attempt to produce a grown-up budget or illustration of how an independent Scotland would survive economically, assuming total severance from the former UK?
Clearly, Alex Salmond's ideal budget includes:
1. Continued net contribution from England
2. Huge handouts from the EU trough like other basket-case EU countries (no names no pack drill)
3. Billions in "compensation" from England for a long list of historical grievances
4. Tax on, er, whatever industry chooses to remain north of the border
I share Shankly's views - go if yoiu want but you must keep all these Jock MPs you keep sending to govern us; Brown, Darling, Joyce, Alexander etc etc (even VBlair is a Fettes brat) ...can we send them back to govern you ?
Funnily enough the folks in Scotland only voted Brown in as an MP. He was selected by Blair as chancellor and became PM unopposed.
Perhaps if you English got off your arses instead of whinging all the time, your MP's could have stopped Broon before he started. :P
That's precisely what you DON'T want my tartan clad chum. The day we English whingers get off our lazy arses, might well be the day we give the William Wallace hang-draw-and-quarter treatment to the Jockanese diaspora you've sent down to rule us.
But seeing as X-Factor and I'm a Celeb are still on, don't hold your breath eh?
I can see it now, in a decade ARRSE will be full of young thrusters who will be complaining about all the old farts who go on about HERRICK, lurk in the office, "enable" stuff and how it's got fuck all to do with what's going on now.
Aside from the fact that it might well screw up my business, I think Hollywood has more to do with this new-found Scottish nationalism than Holyrood.
I had never heard more than a mutter about Scottish independence until Braveheart was released.
Then you must have had tatties in your lugs, there has been a glamour for self determination from Scotland since I can remember, culminating in the Labour stitch up at the first devoloution vote in '79 (majority voted yes but because not enough turned out Callaghan and the commisars decided that it didn't count)
