Mr Bob Aintoworthit.... in a previous existence.... like me, would have been the village Idiot.... A most important role to show the peasants what not to do in life...

If Mr bob had joined the Army, he would have been a 22 year, Local Unwanted, Unloved L/Corporal on the RP Staff... because he was too useless to be put anywhere else...... :P

Funny... that also happened to me in the last 18 months of my service.... too much 'Scottish & Newcastle' falling-doon water caused me to be shoved onto the RP Staff at 'Helles Barracks Catterick' as an RP Corporal way back in 1976......

Oh Bugger.... I've given away another of my secrets.....

That's his attempt to seek empathy with the armed forces gone completely Pete.

Well two days of digging and searching in the general area and we still haven't found the cunting leak. Surely there must be technology more accurate than a grumpy old bloke in a yellow hi-vis coat, wielding a length of dowelling on a thread bobbin and claiming there may be a leak in the generic area known as "under there"?

Re: Bob Ainsworth - "Sgt Major in another life"

    How perverse.

As Secretary of State for Defence, the Chief of the Defence Staff, 1st Sea Lord, Chief of the General Staff and Chief of the Air Staff all report to him. While not in command per se, he can give political direction to any or all of the Armed Services. He has nuclear weapons, TLAMs, aircraft carriers, regiments of MBTs, UAVs, bombers, fighters, and couple of hundred thousand blokes with rifles at his disposal. While not what it was, and not what it should be, the British Armed Forces are one of the most powerful military organisations in the world.

And he has an aspiration to be a Warrant Officer....

Utterly, despairingly, out of his depth.

Re: Bob Ainsworth - "Sgt Major in another life"

BFBS re-played an interview with him this morning. It was yet another dismal performance, churning out the same old tired "lines to take". I don't know what annoyed me most - Ainsworth's pitiful performance or the interviewers complete inablity to take him to task over some of his comments.

Isn't it time that for sake of balance any interview on BFBS by a Minister is countered by one from the opposition.
