Or anywhere else for that matter.

    tangosix.
UA Abrams are already in Afg, there were at least 5 parked up last week.

As for logistics, we flew Danish Leo 2's in by C17 so I'm sure we could do the same with Chally 2.
No, its not that big and I have no idea how it works.

    Hello WhiteHorse,

thankyou for that information,I had no idea they had them out there.
    Are they Marines or Army?
I agree with you about getting Challenger out there,as far as I know C17s can move them.

Well I didn't get that close but they were in a 2 MEB holding area, but I'm not saying which one.

Well if we are going to be there for the next forty years
We have only used Batus since 1970, before that we used the Western Desert in Libya, so why not, in forty years if we stay that long, we could build a railway from the sea, and all sorts of inferstructure
One minor flaw in 'tropper66's' cunning plan - the nearest sea to Afghanistan is 280 miles south through Baluchistan. Sad that, because railways are wonderful and I'm sure the Taliban would never, ever, think of blowing the track up :D

PS: We could of course place the railway in a tunnel - not good news for train-spotters, but safer, except when the track emerges at the sea-shore

Tunnels eh? Of course, there's NEVER been any trouble with tunnels in AFG.

Never been ANY trouble at the Salang Tunnel, for instance.
It's been nice, but it ain't so nice anymore.
    See you about................maybe.

There was a report from Iraq that 1 challenger 2 took 11 IED hits in 5 km. My question is should we deploy them?

I work with the things, and they terrify me in all honesty, god only knows what it does to their morale, (their god probably does, it causes them to blow themselves up).
Give us another bite at the cherry with this awesome bit of kit, Like it's been said, even if its just in a holding role till it proper kicks off, or, and I'm gonna regret this, absorbing the IED's, GULP.
The rest of the infantry is doing a great job, but why not let us take some of the strain, and some of the fire.

yes this would solve some of the problem of blast and collateral damage where the target is but you have to keep in mind, if there not much distance bettween the cr2 and target there is still a 20kg SH/PRAC travleing at 500m/s also if you are even in a semi built up area the preasure wave of the round being fired is enough to knock over buildings let alone guys on the ground. but a cr2 would be very usefull in the situation you just gota tell the guys to move away :D
