The sentiment I'm trying to get across that, regardless of the intent (which is dubious and tenuous), this would look like an overly theatrical attempt at a public jumble sale. Random folks turning up to leave scrap kit somewhere is a terrible idea and is certainly lacking in substance and obvious message.
Just a quick one for all serving members, I took a little legal advice and was told that this would come under Section 69 - "conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline" and could attact a substantial prison sentence and dismissal from the service by court martial.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Laurence Binyon (1869–1943)

So consider this very carefully.
I wouldn't worry about it mate. Most of them are in the eBay Fusiliers...they're pretty relaxed as far as disciplinary issues are concerned.
Sorry Biscuits A-B. You are wrong, oh so wrong. If we all walked past the gates and left a pair of boots outside, what would it acchieve? lots. All serving and ex-serving personel that wanted to could drop by and tell this goverment what we think and support. The 'REV' has made his point, we need to follow it up as well. And saying about approaching your local MP? well I did last Saturday at the Gloucester Carnaval, Name Parmjit Dhanda and he walked away. Maybe I should leave a pair of boots on his drive?
(P.S. this is in no way a remark that i intend to leave a device in 'Matson' or anywhere near Upton where he lives).
Well to avoid littering as an issue.......... one pair of boots as a symbolic gesture (with accompanying entourage) - presented at the gates of No 10 for a PM and Govt not worthy of filling them. With clarity that it is organised by Ex Military personnel who feel that the present administration is failing in its duty of care for serving members of its Armed Forces. Or something along those lines. Just my thoughts on this subject.
Ok how about someone using the FOI act can find the exact amount of KILLED and injured from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Exact number of old sweats turn up wearing boots etc. Stop outside No 10.
Wearing on the chest a number and on the back a picture of a coffin or human body with legs/arms etc missing
A second parade then walk past carrying a coffin (not full size or just a cardboard box) for every death resulting from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Fist body of people take off the boots and drop them in the boxes. No litter.
I've just read throught this there's about 8 of you so far.
Mind you I didn't think there was that many that smoked crack and posted here.
This is a really bad idea.
Agreed, this is a really bad idea, however well intentioned. Regardless of the sentiments it would send the wrong signals to the public just when support is the strongest it’s been for a long time.
