    Re: Rebuilding Trust in Parliament

We alrady have a physically disabled PM (Who is also mentally deranged) and look at the mess he's made of things the uselss cnut. The most powerful man in the country (Mandleson) is a shirt lifter and look how corrupt he is. Keith Vaz and a fair few other minority MP's seem to be at the forefront of the trough themselves. And as for some of the females in government, dishonest and incompetent to a man!

We need ex soldiers in Parliament, better still lets have serving soldiers in the commons, preferably rounding the corrupt b*stards up!

    We need a coup.

    Sounds good to me.

    Re: Rebuilding Trust in Parliament

I never lost faith in Parliament, don't imagine I ever will. It's a lovely building, still structurally sound after all these years.

On a serious note, I doubt the public will ever recover their faith in our Parliamentarians and that's actually no bad thing, IMO. They get to pass laws that govern our lives and we should never, ever trust someone in that position. We should be looking over their shoulders every single step of the way or we get what we have now - a bunch of self-serving hypocrites who put themselves above the rest of us.

A massive dose of public mistrust, abject contempt and a cheeky wee general election may at least remind that particular caste of exactly who serves who.
We need people who look to the stars, holding the nation and the world in their hearts but at the same time we need down-to-earth people who can do serious and trying work.

In a definite sense, a country's power and prestige isn't only a reflection of its economic power but also a reflection of its people's quality and morality. Moreover, I think the latter is actually more important in the long-term.

Dream on. Politics and honesty are oxymorons!
But I like your idea for a new criminal offence, we could use it in the states too! Of course, there'd be no one left - guess we could outsource! Cheaper and better workers, as we are always told!

    If only......
we had MPs who were honest and elected because they were concerned about the welfare of their constituents rather than the party (all a bunch of Communists whatever their flavour). I might then respect them regardless of race, creed, colour or gender.
No sooner did we form into teams than we were re-organised.
I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet every situation by re-organising and what a wonderful method it is for giving the illusion of progress whilst only producing confusion, inefficiency & demoralisation.

I hope that one or two of our young disabled soldiers will find their way into politics in the fullness of time. To serve one's country as a soldier then battle with a smashed body and carve a political career, what an MP that would be!

Any MP who been dishonest and committed a crime must be punished to the maximum extent of the law and receive the max penalty.
For they are not Ordinary criminals, they are people who have been entrusted to Make the Law and then abused the system for personal profit.
Not until Parliament has been seen by the British people to have sorted out the criminals in their midst can Parliament ever be trusted again.

And of course remember that Harridan Harperson wants positive discrimination for Northerners too. I only hope that Northern pragmatism means that they want to DO things rather than TALK about doing them as Liz Hunt said in yesterday’s Torygraph.

At this rate, bearing in mind my background, I’m never going to get a job unless I play up the Mick part of my ancestry…
