Discuss Elgin Marbles? at the Current Affairs, News and Analysis forum within the The Army Rumour Service website; Narcissistic ego? You have a delusion that you are a Daffodil? Poor chap....
Nehustan's arguments always look frightfully sophisticated. Unfortunately I usually find I can't follow them and they are far too boring to be bothered to try and understand what he is trying to say. Thus his arguments fail as far as I'm concerned.
Or as I have come to appreciate, its not that they won't agree with me, they literally can't; I won't bother with the 'sophisticated' argument about dissonance. It were as if I literally lived on another planet :D , which to be honest is a rather comfortable place to be, despite the initial difficulties.
So you debate on Arrse despite your belief that its members are incapable of your level of argument? I notice your signature block would appear to support this view. How arrogant and patronising you are.
6 years and counting to make it as an academic?
Actually (see previous statement) I usually discuss middle east issues, but as the news is on and constantly discussing the Elgin marbles (and checking it wasn't already discussed), I thought I'd bring it up. One trick pony reference? I don't set out with the presumption that people won't get my point of view, it just appears to happen consistently from such diverse directions (and far beyond the confines of arrse) that, yes, it would appear as arrogant, like I said 'narcissistic ego'. I actually find that on many of the usual threads I join on arrse, people do actually understand me to a greater degree than the wider population, which is why I actually find the place a good place to discuss; it's lively and not PC; ironically politically correct can apply to more than one 'wing' of thought? While people disagree with me often, they do at least understand what I'm saying...which is more often than not quite pleasant.
"Nehustan, you think you're so clever don't you?"
"Actually, I think I'm of fairly average intelligence, it's just that you make me look like a freaking genius..."
"Actually Sir, you're a bleeeding Undinus-Sylphius, and don't you forget it!!!!

Does that not give you an indication of something then?
Does that not give you an indication of something then?
It actually signifies multiple things to me, some more statistically likely than others. However what the statistics infer as likely, and what the actual situation is, can be diametrically opposed; improbable does not equate to impossible.

As an quick addition, archaeology isn't really my subject. I did have to cover it as part of my BSc, but really my focus has been on health, so really medical and/or psychological anthropology. Thus I'm not really making an informed statement as an archaeologist, more discussing a news item.

Have you ever had sex with a woman?

So I take it that the contributing members of arrse generally think that the marbles should stay in the British museum ...well that and that I'm a twat
