If those employed on the Underground feel so hard-done by in their present employment, perhaps a change of employment will do them some good, assuming they can find such high-paying positions in the present economic climate.
With all the strikes and threat of same over the last several years, who would blame LU if driverless trains were introduced in the next few years?.
This strike will result in even less votes for Labour in the next election, and the probable incoming Conservative government will be far less indulgent to trade unions than the present Labour one is.
Almost on tack - I thought that the tpt sysytem was going to be modernised in time for the olympics - if so, we have a long way to go in 2 years!
endless hours of straphanging with my nose buried in some grubby little oiks armpit, listening to the iPod 10 metres away and jamming my face up against the window have yet to convince me that our system is anywhere near modern!
Sack the lot. There are thousands who would fill their talentless pish-easy jobs. Send the tits out to afghan for a day, give them a taste of a shitty job. Maybe even give them a sense of duty and public service, so they would realise how f-cking annoying it is when a whole 7-million strong city is trying to get to work but can't because the serfs have a jumped up opinion of their own self worth.
As a train driver and a member of the RMT and ex soldier Id like to point out that we are not all money grabbing bastards who go on strike at the drop of a hat.The London tube system has London by the bollocks,if they stop London almost stops. The RMT has power because of this.
In the six years I have been a driver I have never gone on strike,I am paid well and am very grateful for that.
As for your view MR Crown Imperial "sack the lot thousands would fill there talentless pish easy jobs" have a crack at the entrance tests,at the time I joined it was 80% failure rate even before the 9-12 month training started and more rules and regulations than u could imagine which u are expected to know off by heart, which for me was 12months of head in books every night.Give me a monkey a bunch of bannanas and 2 weeks and I will give you a train driver, the hard part is remembering what to do when the shite hits the fan! DICK HEAD. That is where the RMT comes in to its own they will always back up its members as I have found out when everyone else back tracks like fcuk from you when your in trouble on the railways!!
I think the money your average soldier gets is a fcuking disgrace, they should be on par with a police officers pay as soon as they pass out at least plus extra when on ops (no tax to be paid?),American PXs no tax paid on goods bought even to people who have been out of the military for years,if the American Goverment can do it our Goverment should, cut back on finantional aid to other countrys there you go the extra money has just been found!
Ive been on both sides of the fence and I know how lucky I am to be where I am today

We have an antiquated rail system that costs the taxpayer a fortune, costs the commuter/traveller an extortionate amount for journeys or season tickets, is often delayed, is poorly run and is dominated by a bolshy trade unionist who calls for strike action annually. Every year the country loses considerable sums of cash through the RMT's action.
And if you know how lucky you are, I assume that the stroppy sods on strike do too. And if they know that they should understand the impact of what they are doing on both the commuter and the country.
Any wonder that there is little sympathy for the RMT?
Dont get me wrong I am not sticking up for the RMT,from being in the army I never had a choice of being in a union or not,nor did I care.
Going to work on the railways is like going back in time soon as u were in the door the union reps were on you, telling u life could be very difficult for u if you didnt join the union! As I said Tube drivers have the power because of where they are.I think they are wrong, they get a very good wage plus perks ( free travel etc).Get a few of them digging fire trenches for a few days and Im sure they would see the light!

Thought that sort of bullying was illegal? And that style of union 'leadership' is an antiquated style, suited to the early 20th Centruy and not the 21st Century. You may not have liked Thatcher, but she drove most of this nonsense out of the TU and went a long way to bringing this country back to a semblance of economic respectability as a result. Mr crowe and his cronies could do with a healthy dollop of Thatcherism shoved up their collective rectums, the bullying cunts.
This is not about what my political views, howeverI have never or would never vote Labour, being in the RMT for me is about being protected in what is a highly regulated industry were if things do go wrong people can and do lose there lifes (Southall,Ladbroke Grove) and the driver is usually the first to be blamed untill proven innocent.
May I point out alot of tube drivers have gone into work today,we are not all fully paid up members of the Communist Party!

I know that the Northern Line ran as did part of the Jubilee.
