Re: UK 'at risk of sea-borne attack'
Non-Story, plenty of contingency plans and agencies/units able to counter this.

Re: UK 'at risk of sea-borne attack'
What a load of old bollocks, open to sea bourne attack, were a f@cking island of course we are but it's not as if a couple of Taliban in a rib are going to stick bomb on the White cliffs and sink GB. Of course there is a real danger in ports and harbours etc but that's always been there, that's why we are fighting them in AFG. Only an expert!! Can state the blindingly obvious and make it news.

The Old Bill having primacy in territorial waters is a bit of a worry if they apply their policies as used on land.
"Hullo Police? There is a suspicious blacked out boat running up the harbour towards Fawley refinery without lights and they did not stop as they damaged my boat in passing"
"Don't take any action yourself sir, it's a job for the police. Here is a incident number for insurance purposes and a policeman in a boat may be around tomorrow during daylight hours to take a statement. We have policies and plans in place for any threat sir so you are quite safe."

Somebody somewhere has this in hand. Who needed the ROC, Aux Navy, the Civil defence corps, the HSF, The TA, the Army, the Airforce and the Navy anyway! All that money saved has been wisely "Re-invested" in the welfare state. The New Labour Socialist Europe will protect us!

Re: UK 'at risk of sea-borne attack'
Does the fact that the waters around the UK are monitored via radar, satellite and other ways not mean a little more than the 9 Navy ships defending the UK waters, there are fast jets, helicopters and submarines also.

Re: UK 'at risk of sea-borne attack'
Submarines? have we any left for routine patrols? The nimrod fleet has been grounded to save money, I suppose radar will do it all! I remember the daily reports of the Russian Bear aircraft over the North-East of Scotland through the eighties and early ninetys. They have started this again only recently. Lossimouth and Kinloss are still there, for the time being...............

LOL, not so much confused as "Where have they all gone"? "Oh there they go again"! I had an uncle based in Lossie at one time and the station was very much on the frontline, a scramble was taken very seriously.
