What did you expect from this mendacious, soul destroying, immoral shower that are in government. Those that voted them in should hang their heads in shame.
Any MP that shows up on Vets. day had better be wearing armoured skiddys as I intend to ream them a new one over this
I think that everyone at the Cenotaph in November should turn their back as Brown lays his wreath. That would send a powerful and very dignified message to the rest of the world
I think every time a Minister or Government representitive appears at any event connected with the Armed Forces, Veterans etc, all assembled should start a slow handclap, or turn their backs as suggested.
When Mighty Roast Beef was the Englishman's Food
It ennobl'd our veins and enriched our Blood:
Our Soldiers were Brave and our Courtiers were Good:
Oh! The Roast Beef of Old England,
And Old English Roast Beef.
I wonder what HMG (PLC) would say if we returned our medals & those awarded MM ect refused theirs out of principal along with the note to the Boss:
"I'm sorry Ma'am,but I cannot in all good concious accept this award while the MoD/HMG continues to treat my bothers-in-arms,the Gurkhas,in such a disrespectful & cowardly way."
A reprehensible decision by a corrupt government led by a man who can only ghost write books on courage, he probably cannot even spell the word. The people running our country know nothing of service, or honour. What a cowardly way to announce their decision, and where is the equality. We have upwards of 1million illegal immigrants in this country who only help themselves to the advantages of our welfare state. The Gurkha's serve this country and get nothing.
Shame on this disrespectful Government who have destroyed so much of what was good about the United Kingdom
Is it true that one of the requirements is to have served 20 years but Gurkha infantrymen can only serve a maximum of 15?
It is true, along with the fact that they have to have resided in the UK for more than 3 years consecutively, even though they are only allowed to stay here for 2 years. I think the 20 year rule with be grounds for a legal challenge of this though as it is discrimination.
Also, one of the other conditions is that they have to have a medical condition which can be linked with their service. Now say a soldier got a medical discharge before the 20 year point; this also means he can't fit their requirements but is a likely situation to have happened.
I didn't expect to get what we had campaigned for but I did not expect it to be this bad.
Just sent to my MLA.Feel free to amend & use.

Dear Lady Hermon,
Today I sat & watched Sky News when the announcement of what the Government intended as the criteria to allow Ex Gurkha soldiers entry into Britain was announced with shocked disbelief & anger.
I am appalled that any so called asylum seeker can enter the country with ease, safe in the knowledge that they will be housed & fed by you & I,free to sponge off the state & commit criminal act's with nothing,NOTHING to offer the country in return.
Whereas these brave & loyal defenders of the Crown are cast aside by HMG like a half eaten cake, their usefulness at an end.
All they want is a chance,a chance to live in the country that they fought & died for.
Nothing more,nothing less.
I would happily have one of theses gentlemen & their family as my neighbour.
Therefore,I would be extremly grateful if you could raise this issue again with our so called government in the house at your earliest opportunity.
