Just seen on the news that 5000, Neo Nazi's have marched on the 60th Aniversary of the Dresden bombings.It claim's they spoke of Winston Churchill, Of commiting genocide.

Disgusting.

What really annoys me is that Dresden was bombed at the request of the
russians prior to an assault along the German lines and dresden was a military target. It was full of soldiers as it was the main conduite for retreating German soldiers.
Strange how History can be rewritten to fit into someone elses perspective.

Wonder if Bliar, TCh and Cambell will try it in their memoirs?

Why? the neo nazis may be nut jobs but Dresden was horiffic. Churchill wasn't exactly touchy feely you know.

just because we won and the nazi regime was evil doesn't mean to say we didn't do some pretty nasty things too.

what about them? what about guernica? what about the tens of thousands of French civillians that died in allied raids? what about any number of towns and cities throughout europe?

The Soviets did request help, but the plans were already drawn up, it was going to happen anyway. The city was also an important link their LOC and likely had a lot of troops, wounded in particular, there but the city was also full of civillian refugees fleeing the Soviets.

Far better to tell the truth of what really happened instead of playing into the hands of the neo-numpties

No point trying to justify the midset of these marchers. There was a piece on their views linking the bombing with the recent 'attack' on the Hercules aircraft.
