Iraqi Shoe thrower jailed.
Justice then...An Iraqi journalist hailed as a hero in the Arab world for throwing his shoes at former US President George W Bush has been jailed for three years.
Shame.Defence lawyers had called for the charges to be dismissed, saying Mr Bush had never been in serious danger.
Anyone sense a signed, sealed and agreed political asylum claim over here just in time for him to be let out....?Mr Zaidi has been held in custody ever since. His lawyers said he was beaten by prison guards, although he has looked healthy at court appearances.

3 years is better than being stoned to death tho isn't it. Some people in the UK should remember that when showing outrage/protests etc

3 years, the poor bugger. As AY said - imagine what he'd have got if he hit him!
Mr Shankly's boots? I'm not fit lace them.

Re: Iraqi Shoe thrower jailed.
if he had thrown it at saddam he would have "disapeared" wouldn't he?
If Iraq was such a threat to everyones national security why did only take two f**kin weeks to take over the whole country!

if he'd done it over here he might not even have been arrested (see Mandelson/custard interface recently).

Re: Iraqi Shoe thrower jailed.
Wonder what would have happened had it been one of the princes from the house of Saud. Likely would have been riddled with bullets by the time the shoe hit the wall.
Three things generally happen when you meet someone unlike yourself:
1. We try to clone them and make them like us.
2. We reject them and push them away.
3. We find common ground and a place of agreement.
Yet in all three we assert one fundamental concept, that we are right.
What if when we encounter someone unlike us we seek to see ourselves through their eyes and become open to the possibility that we are wrong?
