Re: Bison meat - anyone tried it?
I tried it once. It tasted like pretty good beef (not exceptional, though that may have been down to the cooking), but it gave me appendicitis; I haven't tried it since.

Jarrod, next time you're down here, I'll take you round Borough Market before we get drinking.

I think i'll give it a go, never noticed it on a menu in Canada, but that could be related to where I ate.

Re: Bison meat - anyone tried it?
My local market in the US stocks it. Tastes like beef but leaner. Makes great burgers on the grill. Of course my local market was different from many here and also sold pheasant, quail and boar. The late Julia Child of cookbook fame used to shop there. It was always a kick to see a famous cook shopping there. Nice lady, very tall, former OSS operative in China during WW II.
By the way they also sold frozen alligator steaks. Taste just like chicken but the meat is whiter. Great on the grill with a teriyaki glaze.
Your UK price seems pricey to me but UK prices are generally higher than US from what I have seen.
Also, bison also makes good chile con carne also, lower in fat.Nuair a chacann caora, cacann siad uilig

I bought some in Marks and Sparks a couple of months ago. I have seen them in supermarkets occasionally if you keep your eye open. It wasn't that expensive either.

Re: Bison meat - anyone tried it?
Had a bison burger at a local show not so long ago. It was one of the more expensive burgers I've ever had but tasted like... meat! Today's burgers taste of nothing; this was seriously good quality. As has been mentioned before, I guess you get waht you pay for.
Don't worry... it only seems kinky the first time.
