All I did the night was cod loin, cut in half, stacked, one on top of other, stuffed with finely diced chilli, garlic, coriander, a fresh tomato and lemon zest, more of that on top, wrapped in bacon, and then another wee drizzle of the chilli mix.
    20mins in oven.
served with new tatties, (crushed not mashed!) with a good spoonful of cremefrish and dejon mustard.

As Mrs F is on a health kick she had fat trimmed off bacon!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up,

As true today as in 1320.

Tonight, I managed a culinary miracle on the same scale as turning water into wine. I started making Singapore Noodles and wound up serving a pig's abortion.

Well, you can't win them all.
We need people who look to the stars, holding the nation and the world in their hearts but at the same time we need down-to-earth people who can do serious and trying work.

In a definite sense, a country's power and prestige isn't only a reflection of its economic power but also a reflection of its people's quality and morality. Moreover, I think the latter is actually more important in the long-term.

In honour of Her Majesty & her family, tonight's supper is about to be put together:

(Edit to add: bugger, brezels were in the bread bin not the pic).

To eat well in England one must have breakfast three times a day

    Somerset Maugham

London: its "buzz" and "vibrancy"... can be codewords for drugs, late-night noise and multi-culturalism run (literally) riot.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, camel blue in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOW!!! WHAT A RIDE !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm trying to impress TSO so it's crown of chicken with a crust of crushed pepper, coriander, mustard and cumin. Rice and stir fry on the side... mind you, by the time it comes out of the oven she'll have necked most of the Merlot and I could serve her Poisson frite avec des Pommes de Frites (sp) or d'Aigneau a la Greque (Kebab)...
    - Si dubitas, fuge.

    Roast beef

FFS: today of all days, what could you cook?

    AND

As it happens - it was an absolute belter, slow-roasted, succulent, near-perfect roast spuds, yorkies of similar quality . . .

    It's great to be British.
Summer grasses - all that is left of the dreams of soldiers
