What i would suggest is that you link some of the less well known ingredients where possible or at least provide a description of what they are. Suggested suppliers could be helpful too. Those of us living in the provinces don't have quite the selection available to those living in Town.
Could I ask your opinion on Fentiman's Tonic water? Their other botanicals are excellent in my view. I'm also determined to make a Vodka martini to ian Fleming's original recipe. Any thoughts?

Fentiman's is excellent and is in fact my favorite on the market. I am a big fan of their range.
There is a God and he looked down on the Earth and said "Let there be Liberal Democrats in the Government" and it came to pass that the disciple Dave brought Nick back from the wilderness and there was much partying.
How do you make a proper Strawberry Daiquiri please?
Puff's drink it may be but I love 'em.
Also I had something called a 'Hand Grenade' in New Orleans, have you any idea what goes into one.
Thanks in advance.
Strawberry Daiquiri: Classic Style
Cube 1 whole lime and place in cocktail shaker
add 2 barspoons of sugar
add 4 strawberries
Muddle (ie squash aggressively with the end of a rolling pin) ingredients in the bottom of the shaker
Add 50mls Havana Club Especial (Bacardi Blanco is sh*t)
Add 12.5mls Creme de Fraise (Strawberry Liqueur)
Add Cubed Ice to shaker and shake
Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a martini glass & garnish with a strawberry
Strawberry Daiquiri - Frozen
Use the same ingredients as above and put all in a blender
Use the juice of the lime not the whole lime
Add some cubed ice (don't use chipped or crushed it won't work)
blend to a thick slushy consistency (add more ice if necessary to achieve this)
Pour carefully into a martini glass & garnish
A little tip is turn the martini glass as you pour the drink to give a Mr Whippy style cone:
New Orleans Hand Grenade:
- 1 1/2 oz gin
- 1 1/2 oz grain alcohol
- 1 1/2 oz melon liqueur
- 1 1/2 oz rum
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
stir ingredients together in a collins glass filled with ice cubes. Add water and sugar if desired, to taste, and serve.
Serve in "Collins Glass" Garnish: No
I shall purchase the ingredients tomorrow and let you know how I fare.
Many thanks.
:D
Edited to add : Now I know what goes into a 'Hand Grenade' this explains some of my behaviour in Bourbon Street a couple of years ago.
I remember nothing.

Believe it or not Gordon's was the gin used in the original Vesper Martini.
If you are going to make a Vodka Martini, Stolichnaya is always a good place to start, however amongst the better Vodkas I recommend one of the following:
Stolichnaya Elite
Ciroc (which is a fantastic French Grape Vodka, and a personal favorite of mine)
belvedere
Wyborowa Exquisite
Ketel 1 (A Dutch vodka with a nice peppery taste)

Don't bother with Grey Goose it's over rated
Do you think that Lillet blanc is much the same as the Kina Lillet specified in the book?
