Every one of us, especially squaddies, has the yearning for any bit of kit that is Gucci, or ally. The things that make your life that little bit more comfortable, easier, or even just to make your mates jealous.

I'm a firm believer that "the boy with the most toys wins" and being a bit of a flash twat, I like to have the latest gadget or bit of tech that comes on the market. The only issue with this is “how do I keep them protected?” when in arduous conditions. ...

With my posting to Afghan coming up I decided to buy the Nexus 7 tablet to take with me. I can use it for films, ebooks, wireless internet and most importantly.....surfing por....errr....ARRSE.

This presented me with the issue of safe carriage. We all know how ham fisted movers are, and their less than gentle approach to other peoples kit, so I wanted to offer my new purchase the best odds on surviving the journey out there. I also wanted something that would be useful in-theatre, and would cope with the environment I would be in, once on the ground. ...

If you are like me your iPhone can sometimes feel like it contains your life and as a result I live in fear that that the wretched thing will be rendered useless by being drowned crushed or otherwise covered in crap. Especially when I venture forth on anything other than the most domestic of tasks.

Peli have come up with a solution. Incidentally Peli appears to be the European trading name of Pelican Products of the USA. Same products made in the USA, which is quite refreshing when most stuff these days is made in the Far East or other sweat shops country, pity they are not made in the UK, but I digress. ...

Technology eh? It's an amazing thing. We can now carry in our pocket a piece of equipment which will enable us to speak to anyone in the world, anytime, any place (Usually!). We can look at them, we can send pictures, we can book a flight, we can play Poker, and we can download films and all this on something no bigger than the human hand.

Mind you, you'll struggle to do any of that if you skimped on buying decent protection for your phone and it's now got a hulking great hole in the middle of it. ...

There are so many military watches available that sometimes you just get lost in amongst all the options. Of course the actual act of buying a watch is one fraught with that deep down suspicion that you might just end up losing the bloody thing anyway! That's why the British military has their own unique range of watches that can be issued out from any good QM. The obvious catch 22 here is the bit where I said 'Good QM'. It's a well known fact that if you ask your QM for one of the Cabot Watch Company G10 watches then the reaction you'll get is probably the same as if he'd just come home after a hard days work to find you in his living room in bathrobe, slippers and pipe with his nubile 18yr old daughter by your side looking distinctly sweaty. ...

I’m one of those people who is pretty obsessive about carrying their phone and it sits in the front pocket of my trousers or jeans almost all the time. Needless to say loads of other things end up there too including keys, change and the phone numbers of beautiful women. Unfortunately there are more of the former than the latter giving rise to the potential for significant damage to my beautiful HTC Desire. ...

Otterbox are a producer of protective solutions and are especially known for their systems for handheld technology, such as Apple, Blackberry, HTC products etc. As they say, their cases are dedicated to all the klutzy, spontaneous, chaotic, graceless individuals who have broken their tech due to their active lifestyles.

The product that I tested was the iPhone 4 Reflex Series case. Although Otterbox make waterproof cases this is not one of them, so if you need waterproof then this isn’t the case for you. ...
