Last night I attended the talk about 9 Para's role on the D-Day landings. Col Tootal held the stage for an hour with a powerpoint (yes, I know) presentation on the way that 9 Para prepared and executed this mission.

For those who do not know about Col ...

This season's must have colour is MTP, or at least some form of multi terrain camouflage, and most of the major military equipment distributors are adding this to their product lines. Scotland based Highlander are the latest to do so under their Pro-Force military brand.

They already offer Crye Precision Multicam on their Tomahawk Elite range of daysacks but have decided to develop their own camouflage for their existing range of Forces rucksacks. According to the blurb, Highlander Multi Terrain Camouflage (HTMC) has been desinged by their in house team and has been created to blend with multiple terrain environments, lighting conditions and seasons. As well as the Forces 33 which is reviewed here, HTMC will be applied to a carefully selected core range of products including Odin Softshell jackets, Tempest waterproofs, kids clothing and accessories ...

When I received these boots I thought that they looked like a shorter version of the issue Gore-Tex boots, they looked well made and solid. I must admit I was not looking forward to the breaking in period. Surprisingly this did not take long, a week wearing them around the squadron and they were more than comfortable enough. ...

This is not a review as such as I have not used this App, indeed I don’t even have an iPad, however we have had a group who went on a tour last year and partially used the app. There was some difficulty in getting the app to download and work properly but more of that later.

The App is produced by: Pocket Tours who are keen to get the app reviewed by a third party during an actual trip to the Somme Battlefields.

What the App aims to do is give the user an interactive tool to be used while undertaking a tour of a Battlefield, in this case of the Somme Battlefields. ...

It’s fair to say that as far as boots designed for military application go, there’s not a lot of imagination in the majority of the styles available. Some might have some fancy leather design, or mesh in random places, but generally, they all look alike.

With the British Army switching over to MTP from CS95, the requirement for new boots means there’s a chance to breathe life back into a fairly unexciting part of the kit roster. One company in particular has decided to ...

Let's be honest, the RLC doesn't have the world's greatest reputation on either these forums or more widely. Whilst the work they do is, in reality, pretty important there isn't very much glory in being a chef, stores specialist, driver or even pioneer (until they were disbanded in 2010). Certainly 'Bravo-G1033' and 'Apache-Brunch' have failed to reach the bookshelves of any shops near me!

What they do however have is Ammunition Technical specialists, those incredibly brave individuals who ...

Winter has well and truly turned up and kicked some ass this year, and so as we all rush out to buy our base layers, hats, socks and waterproof jackets, it’s easy to overlook the fragile things that are our digits.

It’s hard to pick a glove that fits the task in hand though. Do you go ...
