Discuss Aldershot Military Cemetery in Charities and Welfare on The Army Rumour Service; if after the shot show this weekend things at the cemetry look like they're getting bad again, take it to The Sun. It's disgusting (sub)contracters aren't doing their job. Intervention is needed, take it away ...

if after the shot show this weekend things at the cemetry look like they're getting bad again, take it to The Sun. It's disgusting (sub)contracters aren't doing their job. Intervention is needed, take it away from them and perhaps make it a "duty" of the local squadrons to keep the place in order.
Well done to those who spoke up about this, let's hope its not just the shot show making them pay attention to the area.

Oi, Jack, I'll thank you for not tarring all North Town residents with the same brush...

My part of NT is VERY nice, thanks !

And as for the gist of the thread, well done to all for gripping Aspire.

I think also that Aldershot has gone past its own rock bottom and is well on the way back to becoming a decent place to live.

I see that they're even doing up NT now around the shops. Be like Oxford Street soon!

The new ruby house is lush. Bit pricey, but the scran is great.

They are also finally getting round to tarmac-ing the rest of the development where I live.

    NT looking up.

They've just repainted all of the road markings in Buller Bks. So its not all bad.

However, I'm pretty sure they're planning on levelling the place sometime soon.

I notice that you couldn't move on the southern end of Queen's Ave today for Aspire cutting the grass alongside Monty Lines perimeter fence! Coincidence or what?

    Re: Aldershot Military Cemetery

I've been away for the last week & Aspire, owned by Carillion, KBR and HSBC, have been busy indeed.

I did a tour of inspection yesterday afternoon of the complete cemetery and am quite happy with the state of the place, save for a bit of litter being blown around. That could have been from the road though.

The one thing that worries me is that this company will think that it's now ok to take things easy again.............Wrong!

I hear that they are going to put 3 gardeners in for 1 day a week, to keep the place up to standard.

At first glance, you might say, that sounds ok........ Not so!

Excuse me, but what was wrong with having the 1 resident gardener/caretaker there for 5 days a week. Someone who was there All the time ensuring that things were top notch & if there was a problem would get it sorted ASP.

Can't see 3 gardeners for 1 day a week, carrying out those functions. They'll probably only be there for an hour or so, leaving the cemetery unmanned for the rest of the time.

    The monitoring carries on!
