    Re: SOCIAL HOUSING DISCRIMINATION

This is just one of the replies, that l have recieved & will be posting on the forum in the nearby future; when l figure out, how to do all the copying of 'em at once!

Thank you for your communication requesting me to sign EDM 288.

As a minister in the government it would be illogical for me to sign an
EDM, however passionately I may feel about the cause or subject matter
reflected in the Motion. EDMs are a device used by backbench MPs to
bring to the government's attention the subjects that they believe to
    be
worthy of attention or debate. So, for me to sign an EDM would be
tantamount to me writing a letter to myself, urging me to take action
    on
    a particular issue.

Thank you, once again, for contacting me.

    Best wishes,

    KIM HOWELLS
    Member of Parliament for Pontypridd

    SENT FROM:
THE OFFICE OF DR KIM HOWELLS MP

Quite an abrupt letter to send out, l thought! Like the way this guy avoids the subject matter.....................True MP, think NOT!

PEOPLE OF PONTYPRIDD, PLEASE DO OUR ARMED FORCES PROUD - SUPPORT US AND E-MAIL YOUR MP, TODAY.

    Dear Mr Jackarrson

Many thanks for your email. Unfortunately as the Opposition Assistant Chief Whip, I am unable to sign EDMs. However I strongly support the position taken by the Shadow Defence Secretary, Liam Fox MP who is pursuing this matter vigorously

    Yours sincerely

    John Randall MP

lf, this is the case, why is the silence on this matter SO, deafening?

    Dear Mr Jackarson

    Thank you for your email.

As a Government Minister, Mr Goggins is not able to sign EDMs.

Furthermore, as you are not one of Mr Goggins constituents he will not
be able to assist you with this matter. Please contact your local MP.

    Yours sincerely

    Gemma McKenna
    Parliamentary Assistant to Paul Goggins
MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East

    Mr Jackarson

PEOPLE OF WYTHSHAWE & SALE EAST, PLEASE DO OUR ARMED FORCES PROUD - SUPPORT US AND E-MAIL YOUR MP, TODAY.

Thank you for contacting me to ask that I sign Early Day Motion (EDM)
    288.

As a member of the government I cannot sign EDMs. Furthermore,
Parliamentary convention dictates that MPs may only represent their own
constituents. Consequently, I am unable to enter into a detailed
correspondence with you on this issue.

    Best wishes

    Tom Harris MP
Member of Parliament for Glasgow South

    Yet another 'cop' out!

PEOPLE OF GALSGOW SOUTH, PLEASE DO OUR ARMED FORCES PROUD - SUPPORT US AND E-MAIL YOUR MP, TODAY.

    Dear Mr Jackarson

Meg Munn MP for Sheffield Heeley is unable to sign EDM's as she is a
Government Minister. EDM's are a tool for back benches to lobby the
    government.

    Regards

    Deborah Stenton
Constituency Assistant to Meg Munn MP

PEOPLE OF SHEFFIELD HEELEY, PLEASE DO OUR ARMED FORCES PROUD - SUPPORT US AND E-MAIL YOUR MP, TODAY.

l initially sent 42 e-mails, of which the above 5 answered, 37 e-mails gave exactly the same details...............'Your email has been sent to the MP for your area;- Jeff Ennis'

Perhaps, some media coverage would help - our cause.

    Re: SOCIAL HOUSING DISCRIMINATION

Sir_General_Jackarson thank you for your support to this campaign. They may not sign the EDM but at least they will have something to talk about around the bar in the House of Commons. What we need is a Judicial Review of the Local Connection with in 199(2)and(3) of the Homelessness Legislation. I know the British Armed Forces Federation (BAFF), are looking into the legal area's of the Legislation. I'm in constant contact with the Guardian and a political editor of the spectator magazine and a
columnist for News of the World newspaper.

All I would say to anyone else reading this thread, is to continue to email Minister asking them to support EDM 288. Those that state they're unable to sign, etc, will still contact your Minister and or the DCLG.

Wija72 thank you. Please keep the site updated on any replies.

    Regards

    Re: SOCIAL HOUSING DISCRIMINATION

I fully support the campaign and have e-mailed local mp's as you are aware on numerous occasions, however i have a nasty ill feeling that we(veterans) will be treated as the American veterans where for years after Vietnam!

Ex service people in this country have no desire or will to carry on supporting each other. I live a normal rather bland exsistence like so many in a crap badly paid job! Again i do not want any special medal or anything but i fundraise for ex service charities like combat stress. I have a family but still i try and help.

I am still waiting for sponsors if anyone can throw a couple of quid in? Only cost of a pint of beer to help out a fellow veteran isn't it?I will never give in even if others do!

Coaching done, training done - now she's just got to go out and do it. Brighton Marathon off you go.

Success is never final and failure never fatal. It's courage that counts.

HITBACK: Got this back from one of the MP's this morning... the other 3 haven't replied as of yet.

    Thanks for your further e-mail.

As I am not your MP, I am afraid that I am not allowed under Parliamentary rules to act on your behalf.

I know that the Conservative Party is taking this issue up strongly and should any of my constituents contact me about it, I will gladly raise it with the Ministry of Defence.

    Best wishes,

    Philip

    Philip Hollobone MP

    Re: SOCIAL HOUSING DISCRIMINATION

The season in nearly upon us, where the local Garrisons will be having their open days.........................Military displays blah, blah, blah. (No offence meant).

Lets be pro-active. lf we can cut & paste a letter to MPs to download or post, why don't we create a small flyer that can be downloaded, and printed off.

Depending how many you want to print off, then the flyers can be discretely dropped out & about at these open-days, inviting people to e-mail their MPs, to support our cause; this is were your tactics, will come in very handy!

    Re: SOCIAL HOUSING DISCRIMINATION

lt is with great disappointment, that NEW LABOUR cannot see the BIGGER picture. Like educating people for the future. Lon-term this apparently, enriches the economy as well as the country.

The Armed forces have a wealth of experience that should be valued, that can be used to contribute to their local economy. The governement is/was an 'INVESTOR IN PEOLE'!

    What does this actually mean?

l believe the Armed Forces come under this heading, however, once you leave the forces - thats it. SHAME on you, NEW LABOUR......

The Armed Forces, deserve much better treatment.

Hitback, click on to 'Harrods ban on uniforms'. At the top is a pol, could one of those, be incorporated at the start of this thread?
