aww come on, it was far funnier when people were suggesting Pooky is some scam artist. i'm surprised the Waltenkommando haven't set up an OP in her back garden already.

No one is suggesting the waltenkommando bit but the womans either soft in the head or she has had her blog hijacked as the story reads like a load of shite. You would have though she would check it before she went online soliciting funds from people.

I'm actually a bit embarrassed that I sent the link for this thread to Pooky. yes, it's possible that a tramp might have sold her a sob story or lied about being ex-Army. or it might genuinely be an ex-soldier down on his luck, who now has a chance to get off the streets.

either way, I don't doubt her intentions - and can't help thinking she will walk away thinking that this Army Rumour Service lot are a bunch of cynical, quick-to-judge tightarses.

You don't run with a story unless you can confirm it with at least two independant reliable sources, for all we know Mr 27 years fell asleep with a fag on and set fire to his lovely nylon sleeping bag himself.
