We are a group of families with children serving in the forces. We created Families Supporting Soldiers as we wanted to give back to some of the many charities that support our military and it's veterans
Our children are at a variety of points in their army careers spanning from initial training through to some who are deployed on operations. As a parent this has, and can, cause more than its fair share of stresses and strains. From each other we have gained a tremendous amount of emotional support but NOW want to extend this support into the wider army community by raising funds for a variety of charities.
Families Supporting Soldiers (FSS) set itself a target of raising £10,000 split between 4 charities throughout 2012; Veterans Aid, ABF, H4H and SOS. We are 5 months into our challenge and the support we have received has exceeded our wildest hopes and dreams.
FSS have set themselves a variety of challenges and activities throughout the year; a group of us are 'Swimming to Afghanistan', we have a wonderful team of people losing loads of lbs for £'s, members of FSS have organised charity evenings and BBQ's, we've had cake sales, charity wrist band sales, sponsored haircuts and walks, in addition to which many of us meet up and raise funds through social events. 100% of all the money donated goes straight to the Just Giving Pages and we wont take a single penny for any admin costs.
If you'd like to make a donation our Just Giving Page is:- http://www.justgiving.com/teams/jsfsgfundraising (N.B we are aware that some of the charities are more pertinent to individuals than others so encourage people to choose the ones they would rather support)
