You also cannot fault their ambition (£350k) and success in getting Royal Patronage (not easy, I'll wager ....). Wonder how many people around here had done anything similar before they were 25. I certainly know I wouldn't have tried anything like this!
Cannot disagree with the points above but at the same time I tend to agree with OC's points also. Whilst i can see that Blesma etc. will be beneficiaries; is the GBP350,000 before or after costs?

Because that is the problem with the proliferation of charities all the admin cost are deducted before anyone sees a penny. And, without, I hope, being to harsh on the very good intentions of the wide variety of adventures that people enjoy; it does seem that many make little or no personal contribution (other than said adventure).

    bokkatankie,

Our goal is to raise £350,000 which will be split evenly between the three charities. Not a penny of the money that is donated to us has been/ is/ or will be used to cover the costs of putting on the events that we are running.

There is obvioulsy quite a substantial cost in putting on the events that we want to and these costs are being covered entirely by corporate sponsorship which means that absolutely every penny that we raise will go exactly where it should....to the charities.

Hope that clears it up a bit! And thanks for the comments!

Sadly my donation will not make much of a dent but every little helps and good luck.

One of the six main events that we are organising this summer is a parade of Pipers and Drummers down the Royal Mile in Edininburgh. (Click here for more info: [URL="http://www.decaid.co.uk/main-events/mass-pipes-and-drums"]

We have set ourselves the challenge of getting 2,011 people to take part in this event and are now on the hunt for both civilian and military bands to take part in the parade.

If you think you or any else you know would be interested in taking part in the event then please let us know!

We are after school bands, local bands, military bands...we aren't fussy!! We know we have set ourselves a massive task here but after all that is the point of all the events that we are doing!

We've had a lot of interest so far but are particularly keen to get more military bands invovled so please let us know if you think you can help!

Thanks DecAid, I was actually about to ask some questions about the Munro Mission when I saw this thread a few minutes ago as I missed it when it first came out, but after viewing the video and going to the Website the questions are answered.

Good Luck... Three very good Forces Charities you have chosen there.

Would it be rude for me to add a link to my thread here? What with it being for BLESMA and all.

Just a week and a bit of cycling a total of 347 miles to get me back into training before I start up... what could go wrong eh? ;) Charity Bike ride.

After watching the Munro mission vid I feel dwarfed in comparison haha, wish I was doing that with them! But all for a good cause I hope I help to make some impact too

Never argue with an idiot. They pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
