Well made good drive and hold there value and make decent diesels.
surely you would have greater choice with second hand cars as you have the same model in all the preceding marks? and yes, you probably would buy a BMW with your money but because you are a complete mong, I hazard a guess you will never earn enough to buy a BMW, unless the ad has the words "spares or repair" in the title.

    Re: New Car

I buy a new BMW every three years, trade in is usually excellent, depreciation isn't too bad and services are free. I also own a couple of Hondas (currently a CR-V and a truck - switched from a Toyota Tundra) which I intend keeping for five years or so, both are comfortable, good in snow and extremely reliable though not 'exciting' to drive (the only 'hairdryer' I own is a kick-ass Harley-Davidson Softail DeLuxe - I am retired however though not an OAP - do I fit your Honda profile?).

It was a horrendous car and we chopped it in 10 months later and were being offerred 6K!? WTF! how can a car depeciate by 10k in 10 months?

So, back in Blighty will always look for ex demos etc. 6 months to 1 yr old.

However, over in the fatherland with the tax free and the military discounts you must buy new.

Audi A4 (New shape) S-Line 2.0D fully loaded satnav etc. 24K! UK OTR price 32K

    Jag XF 2.7D 25K. UK OTR 34K

I know both these cars are new so Ex demos are non-existant but even at 6 months old you'll struggle to get anywhere near those tax free prices.
Did I miss something or did you just answer your own question?
You seem to know a lot about cars Dog-Egg?

I also notice that you've given this thread a miss for a while. Just thought you might like to come back and sort us out 'wiv a new motor, John'?

I'm looking for a new car. What's about a bit of a pointer mate?

I once had one of these:

S%^t off a shovel. Unfortunately she needed new spark-plugs every month and only drank 5-star petrol. After the affair wore off I left her in a dark corner of Ebrington Bks and tried to forget her.

Drive what the Top Gear boys call a 'VW for mean people'i.e.a Skoda(Fabia) bought from car supermarket and saved 3k off list using Internet & mobile 'phone-1yr old & <5k miles on the clock-dealers within 150 miles charging up to 9k for the same car(my ticket £6.8k)-need never buy brand new again with that sort of choice available as nearly-new. :D

    Re: New Car

I am now on my second secondhand Jap Import. Loads more goodies than a UK equivalent. The insurance is the same as my previous cars and it runs on normal UK fuel. I also like the fact their ain't many like mine.

As far as parts and servicing, again no problems, loads of specialist garages about and just as cheap on a service.

MPG is horrendous, I can get into the teens on a good day but it's a weekend fun toy, so is not a bother, VED is huge but I don't smoke.

    VBH likes them too!

You had a GTA??? They're worth over 50k nowadays!

I had a GT Sprint Veloce myself - looked almost identical to your photo minus the GTA bits and bobs. Great car.
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.
