I'd rather that than buying into the Bavarian image/name. Only a personal choice mind, each to their own. I was having this same argument the other day with a Punjabi who got really upset when he found out what the actual unit cost of production was of his £50k investment. For that car £7k.

He is a short arrse too!

Can't comment on the Audi A3, but have Had a 120d since Jan 2010 from new and it hasn't missed a beat.

Will probably break down on the way to work in the morning now!

mini panels - pressed in swindon, mini engines built in hams hall - assembled by lazy fuckers in Cowley now known as BMW oxford as it sounds more classy.
I drive an 61 plate 2.0 tdi a3 well built but basic. Feels a bit weird going round corners to to the electronic stability system. My old Astra diesel had more get up and go aswell as features as standard

I have been driving an A4 1.8 TFSI for the last 6 months and I am very impressed with that engine. I would go as far and say that while its a bit less economic than its Diesel equivalent, it sounds and feels like a very potent, sporty engine, a pleasure you will not derive from any Diesel engine. The consumption is about 8L/100km but I do not pay much attention to that while driving. BMW has beautiful engines, particularly the straight six, much more so than the 4 cylinder blocks. Audi has very impressed me with this particular engine, fairly economic and delivers a punch when you need, sounds really great as well.

I kept the last one ten years and was still loathe to get shut of it, other than servicing it only cost me a battery and four new tyres. The only other marque i've bought more than one is Land Rovers.

The only thing that sounds better than a straight six is a 'V' engine.
