If that is true, you are too stupid to be in business. In the first year you make a fortune out of grants and that. Next year, you ramp up and wing it.

Jesus. To the original poster - Hi. You have a hobby idea, not a business, sorry. As has been said, it is possible to make money out of Classics, but thats more about knowing the way the Clasics business works, rather than knowing the difference between an AF and a Whitworth thread.

Re: Calling All Classic Car Owners!

Well, thanks to all the 50- odd people who have taken the survey so far, and the responses they have posted which are really useful. I'll post more here at the end of the survey before the launch.

    Many thanks

After years of bumping my gums about all sorts of things on here, I decided to leave, set up my own company and turn my hobby into my employment. I now run Classic Status Report (www.classicstatusreport.com) which provides inspections for classic cars using a network of inspectors across the UK.

Oh, and I still bump my gums.... never been the same since they got rid of the KF shirt (etc, etc).

I have a 1989TVR so does not really count, but have done the survey.

OK as the proud second owner of a classic "money pit" I did the survey.

Re: Calling All Classic Car Owners!

Well, a huge thanks to everyone who did this survey- I took the last step on the road to civvy street last week when my company, and my website launched for business!

The results we got from the survey were really useful. basically, I offer a 175- point check for classic cars, but the unique nature of the company is such that the inspections are carried out by a network of established, good quality restoration businesses across the UK. On the website, you put in your car and your postcode, and it tells you the inspectors in your area. You can buy online or direct from the inspectors and there is an introductory rate of £99.95 for the check, but serving members of HM Forces get a 10% discount- just get in touch with me for more details via the website.

Check out more on www.classicstatusreport.com and thanks again for all your help.

I saw the piece in the Saturday Telegraph and figured that was you "Ex Army Major..." . Good bit of PR. Good luck with it.

    Yep- kind of blown persec!

    Oh well.

If any of you want to sell a classic car, send me the details via the website and tell me you're Arrse, and I'll post them free on the website, no strings attached.
