Discuss TA Bosnia Book in Bosnia/Former Yugoslavia (Op GRAPPLE, Op RESOLUTE) on The Army Rumour Service; I found an interview with Les Howard on the Historical Military Vehicle Forum that might be of interest to those that have read Winter Warriors http://www.hmvf.co.uk/index.php?opti...=162&Itemid=26...

for those of you who enjoyed Winter Warriors, the CO of 2LI (now a brigadier) has written his account of the tour. Its called A Cold War: Front-line Operations in Bosnia 1995 - 1996 and is a good companion to WW. A good read and its not all "how good I was" but has lots of quotes from his men. The author is also gracious enough to applaud the TA contibution for 2LI's tour as well

I was in 2RGJ when we went back to Bosnia in 1998 and we had a very healthy number of TA with us, some of whom stayed on with the batallion after the tour. A good mate of mine went on to join Recce platoon from there.

I'll look out for the book.

Oooh goodie, a book about the operation that I most feel defined by! I spent 13 or so months on Grapple and Resolutes 1 and 2. I will look forward to reading it, not least because a lot of my contemporaries were commissioned into the LI. Off to Amazon One-click...not for the first time today - is buying 10 WW1 books unhealthy, given I already have over 200?

    Daddy-pig says "Snoort!"

They used to say if an infinite number of chimps typed we would get the works of Shakespeare, the internet has proved this is NOT the case...

I have just finished A Cold War and its very good. It was nice that he has photos of TA soldiers in it (10 para - he seemed to like them from what I read - as well as the Green Jacket TA) Brig Barry mentions Winter Warriors as recommended reading as well
