Ian Byrne, top bloke, did time on both 659 and 669, now a Vicar in Bungay.
Ian Byrne, yes, top bloke, would never have had him down as a padre though. Good on him! Was a gazelle driver in 659 when I knew him, I remember him getting reamed whilst flying GOC and turning round to speak to him with a clowns red nose on!
Dutch Holland was Sqn beefer, And a young captain scout flight commander who banged out and ended up flying silver tubes in new Zealand I think, another young captain in gazelle flight went to ETPS and was last heard a test pilot at Aerospatiale.
If you had him as Flt Comd I guess you'll remember him. I was across the road and suffered a seemingly endless stream of attached Fish-heads and Cousins as Scout and then Lynx Flt bosses. Andy Simkins was my first Gaz Flt commander. Tony Pring's stoof was during pre-Med Man 7 training. The late AJ Smith was QHI.

No corky wasn't flight commander, line pilot on gazelles and then onto Lynx, when did AJ check out? I saw him at Waddington air show 3 or 4 years ago, was flying jet rangers for Dragon heli's out of Sheffield but still with the crabs, he told me at the time.
Corky was forever in trouble for one thing or another, silly rupert shit mainly, but he nad a great set of flying hands. Could fly rings round most Lynx pilots I knew.
AJ crashed a civvy A109 in the Mournes not long ago. There's a thread over on PPRuNe. TBH, during my groundcrew tour I didn't have much to do with Apple Battery aircrew, we spent most of the time taking the piss out of your MT monkeys like Colin Bolsover and Alf Williams, and drinking with the 669 Aircrewmen in the BBC after a Friday afternoon 'Flight Safety Meeting'.

Colin and Alf, bloody hell, blast from the past
Bloody sorry to hear about AJ, self opinionated northern Cnut, but a bloody good egg!

Kenny Kerr, Badger Blackman were two others.
AJ didn't change at all when he transferred to the RAF. Many's the times he'd throw his opinions around when sat in the TV room at R850, cursing as someone had swiped the batteries in the remote.
