Haha love it! Best is 85 so far on my 4th try! Curious about AAC pilot career as I have 190 UCAS points now (a shambles of AS results, but above the minimum requirement I think?? Please correct me if I am wrong), despite the obvious RLC piccy in my profile and my want for the Ammo Tech trade. I just know if I where to attempt an officer role it would only be AAC pilot for me (not saying the others aren't worth pursuing, it's more of a massively high and probably unachievable aspiration, but hey, we can all dream ha!).

Oooo, just found on the army website (old news I know) that you can train to be a pilot as an NCO! Bloody gonna have to change one of my top 3 now if that is the case, I was mistaken when told at the recruiting office I wouldn't be able to fly if I went in as aircraft technician thinking that was groundcrew, numpty :L

Don't rush in thinking that you'll be automatically selected for Pilot training. It will take you a few yrs to get promoted to Cpl, then you need to apply, IF you are very lucky and your Unit can spare you then you can go for selection. This in itself is a massive obstacle.

The chances of becoming a Pilot in the AAC that way are very slim. I'd suggest a look at the other options of direct entry as Officer Pilot in the AAC, RAF or RN.

    Good luck

Yeah I did figure as much, for durations, from reading the information on the website.

Sadly at 22 y/o I cannot rely on free education and feel that paying for A levels (although an investment if I do well) is just plain silly really. I don't think I have enough points at 190, I will be having a chat with the recruiters though as I would have ground crew as my second choice purely because of this possibility of pilot training

    Thankyou for the advice though

    Hey,
I know this thread is a tad old now but I've got the test for the AAC coming up in a couple of months. If you've still got it would you mind sending me the link you mentioned to the guys above. Would be much appreciated, cheers!

    Army Air Corps Aptitude Test

    1. You drive your car through a particularly dusty patch of land, do you

    a. Take your car to Kwik-Fit and demand they clean your windscreen.
    Or
    b. Get a cloth and clean it yourself.
If you answered (a), you could be an AAC Pilot.

    2. You’ve been told by the garage that if you continue to drive the way you do, you will break your car, do you

    a. Drive it the way you would normally, because it won’t be you staying late to fix it.
    Or
    b. Drive as you’ve been told, the engineers know what breaks these things.
If you answered (a), you could be an AAC Pilot.

    3. You have 6 months to plan and prepare a trip away, do you

    a. Leave everything to the last minute and expect everyone to drop everything to help you.
    Or
    b. Plan everything in advance as to not waste anyone’s time.

If you answered (a), you could be an AAC Pilot.

    4. Your car is ready at Kwik-Fit, but needs to be test driven and that garage has no-one who can drive your vehicle, do you

    a. Turn up 4 hours later to give it a test drive making excuses that you were really busy (you weren’t, your time is just more important than theirs).
    Or
    b. Get there as fast as you can to declare your car fixed.
If you answered (a), you could be an AAC Pilot.
    5. You enter a room, do you

    a. Expect everyone to stop and admire your awesomeness (and if not tell them you’re a Pilot in a high booming voice).
    Or
    b. Take a seat, you’re not that special.
If you answered (a), you could be an AAC Pilot.

    6. Kwik-Fit’s office is a 2 minute walk away from your office, the car park is then another 2 minutes away from their office, you use Kwik-Fit at least once a day, do you

    a. Demand they move their office closer to yours to save your precious legs.
    Or
    b. Walk the extra 2 minutes a day.
If you answered (a), you could be an AAC Pilot.

I think there are more questions in a similar vain, but you get the point

Sounds like a bitter Kwik-fit fitter failed pilot selection ^

    He's got a point, though......
If you can't take the RAF, you shouldn't have joined a joke.
