I don't think the driver will be looking inside much.........

I was at Binbrook when the film was made, I certainly do not remember such a scene, however the Mustang did do a very low fly past. I was stood on the tower (the real one) looking down on the Mustang as it flew past. Got the piccies somewhere. There were a number of extremely realistic scale models of the B17 that were used in the film and one of them was even deliberately crashed! A mere £40,000 worth. :(

This is one of my own, not massively low compared to some but I quite like the finish.

There is supposed to be video evidence of the two RAF F4's which had to pull up to miss hitting Cranwell College during a pass out parade
I think it's closely guarded though as half the parade gets blown all over (allegadly)

    This isn't bad though

We should remember the tremendous contribution of the Queen Mother to the war effort:
As the BBC pointed out, she 'bravely remained in London beside her husband' during the war.
This contrasts sharply with the actions of my grandfather who, on the declaration of war immediately left his wife and children and pissed off, first to France, then North Africa, Italy, France (again) and finally Germany.
The shame will always be with us.

Blackburn Buccaneer - Naval strike aircraft designed to fly under the radar.
In 1953 the UK Defence Budget was 11.3% of GDP. By 1966 it had been reduced to 6.6%. In 2012 it is hovering around 2%. Good job we're no longer expected to fight any wars, isn't it?

Cant beat the Omani Jaguar's for me .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wXeKV7dLeQ

Impromptu flypasts always seem a good idea but I have seen one come within five to ten feet of an Accident Inquiry, scared the sh1t out of me. And I was just the Assistant in the tower. Apparently it took the Pilot a good hour after he landed before he could hold a mug of tea without wearing it.

The very young Mushroom had just started at Cranwell at the time and saw the infamous flypast (albeit from a distance) in question which took place in Dec 86 for the graduation of 97 IOTC. It involved 2 x F-4, one of which went either side of the clock tower. The one who went over the parade was pulling stupid amounts of alpha (especially in an F-4) in full blower and did indeed blow several graduating cadets over with numerous others losing caps. I thought the idiot was going to stoof into the East Wing of College Hall Officers' Mess. The rear jet had a last minute sensible caption and went higher.

Upon landing at Coningsby, the pilot of the lower jet was met by his Stn Cdr and subsequently lost an already notified promotion. I've heard he also got a 2 year punishment tour in the Falklands.

The flypast was edited out of the official graduation video but is used on flt safety courses. Sadly, I've never seen it.

Regarding the B-52 pilot (who was the wing STANEVAL), this is also now used as a case history on Flying Supervisor courses. The guy was an arrogant idiot who felt he was above the law (as indeed his supervisory chain had allowed him to become). Even his wife had stated that her husband could 'do what he wants and nobody can stop him' to other wives.

The incident followed several years of progressively more irresponsible flying in progressively more public scenarios. On the course, I was shown another video of said pilot clearing a ridge on an Hawaian bombing range by 6 ft.

His arrogance - and the failure of his supervisory chain - is moot testement to Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection. It's just a shame he took several others with him.

The C-135FR low flying video is probably just about the next most idiotic thing I've seen on video.

    Regards,
    MM

    Top Low Fly Pasts

Sadly it's not on YouTube - I had a mate in the RAF in about 1985 or '86, and when he passed out from Cranwell, their parade flypast made the front page of the Sun next day. Two F-4s went so low, so fast over the crowd that the reviewing officer was blown off the stand, guests were screaming, and a lot of hats went down the runway in the jet-wash.
The pilots concerned had a career-ending debrief after that one.

Another goody from that era was 899 squadron's impressive practice airfield attack on Linton-On-Ouse, a year later. Low level beat up sharp pull-up, whoops, there goes the Sea Harrier's underwing fuel tanks, producing spectacular napalm-bomb type effects on hitting Yorkshire farm field. Luckily the field was largely empty.
