Unfortunately I was knocked back for the interview. I was informed in the email on the 6th that unless a specific vacancy and service need exists for you skills the army is unable to offer a lateral transfer. Does seem a bit odd when guys who work for me were selected in the same trade set, I have all the quals and it is one of the specialities that they were advertising for but hey ho. Just apply for my permanent residency and move back to the family and get a job in civvy street. It just feels a bit frustrating that it has taken 7 months to knock me back when they did not have the vacancy for the skill set in the first place.

    Hi jocro,
Yes ive got the same form as you. luckilly I got some of the forms a few weeks ago so have everything in place. All im waiting for is the confirmation of the date then I can email the 20mb worth of documentation.
I do hope I get it, just for the sheer fact I spent 3.5 hours scanning my military medical docs into the computer.
Have you applied for your Criminal record checks yet?? if not I do have information and forms for the application.
Also what trade is your husband going for???
IS Ski geek sorry to hear they have turned you down, what vacancy was it for?? Im sure there will be another chance next year.

Hi Joey it was for a Cyber and EW position. It may have been that I was a bit over qualified and one of the SME in the Cyber arena. Maybe the thought of someone with an MSc and most of the professional quals as well as 23 years experience in that field was not what they were after. Plenty of opportunities in Civvy street it was more a case of the Mrs wanting to move back across beside her family and me getting to carry on doing the Army thing. I will just move now under our original plans with the new version of the 176 visa as i already have my skills assessment completed by the Australian Computer Society and have passed my ELTS ( so should be out there by next summer at the latest anyway.

    Hi all,

Is ski geek at least you had a back up plan. I think with the quals you have its going to be more of a case of them fighting over you on civvie street.
Jocro36 please bear with me as I might over complicate this *its a tiffie thing)
The date Im waiting for is the interview date, ive sent the confirmation paperwork back with my choice of interview dates so just waiting for them to confirm,
I recieved a lot of the forms about 4 weeks ago form the lateral transfer NCO as part of a bulk email, when I got the congratulations your through email last week I was already half way through the same forms they had already sent me some weeks previous.
So all my medicals are done, passports copied the whole nine yards.
PM me your email adress and I will send you the booklet on criminal record checks, this booklet gives you all the adresses for the entire western europe police checking services by country.
you have to have a criminal records check for every country that your hubby has stayed in for over a one year duration.
These certificates as Ive just found out are not required for the interview but they do need a certified copy afterwards (apparently). The certificate if not in english needs to be translated by a recognised company ie not your mate or google translae (like I tried). The check has to go back a minimum of 10 years but to be honest there is no where on the forms that stipulate a time frame.

I admit I have skipped the middle 193 pages in this thread but where do you start the recruitment process?

I left the British Army after 15 years last year and have found that being a Project Manager isn't that exciting and would like a whole new start. I have found the recruitment website but it seems to be for direct recruitment for Australians only.

    Any pointers much appreciated.
