Nice one. I don't go in the Prince of Wales much. But its often busy, especially on a Sunday lunchtime etc. Guinea Butt has probably changed a bit. It's ok though. The 'garden' is good for a couple of pints on a Sunday (morning!)
The cafe on Camden Road is the best cafe around I think, cheap and cheerful.
We'll get our people to talk to our people and arrange an RV. More the merrier folks...all welcome. I can probably put a couple of people up in my modest abode. Some great breakfast places within walking distance.
One in Dunorlan Park for example! dunorlan park - Google Search

Restilly I must admit I live on the edge of High Brooms/Gregg's Wood or whatever its called. Did wander why it was good value! I Never go in the Robin Hood anymore...its not even cheap and is a morale vacaum. I like the house as it has easy access to the forests etc and A Road in and out...no traffic probs.
I am not from the area and knoweth not what I was doing when I bought my gaff. Nice as it is. I'm in a Wimpey estate bit! Won't be there forever. Not that bad in fact.

In-Laws live near St Peters Church literately 200 yds from the Royal Oak, I enjoy the Cafe on Dunorlan park nice brekkie, the one outside the Station is good as well. The Robin Hood is packed full of the Chav and Pikies from Sherwood so avoid it at all costs. Missus uncle was the Treasurer of HB working men's Club up until he died a couple of years ago. There is still some good pubs but a lot have gone or been turned into yuppy bars.

Don't know if you remember Donoughts under The Hermitage hotel and the Village inn. Also Chez Moi.
I don't care if you hate me, I don't live to fucking please you.

    The Royal Oak...yep know it.
Its just possible I met your wife's uncle then, about 2 or 3 years ago, was passing, it was snowing very hard and I went in, just to see what it was like and have a Guinness. Got chatting to some alright older chaps in fact at the bar there, being polite I asked about membership later and was introduced to one of the committee who may well have been the Treasurer, think it was. Seemed a nice guy.
I have to say I haven't heard of those places you mention and google is no help, can imagine where they were. I am sure I can think of some more good pubs in fact as there are goodly number. Some as you say have attempted rennovation and simply lost character.
I've only been in Pitcher n Piano a few times but it is usually drippin' wi' totty I must say. Thursday nights are quite full-on as well, having lived in big cities I can't but be slightly reassured that there is life in TWells should one want it!
Chez Moi is now Coco Lounge (quite a young crowd for you G Glitter Gang types out there ..grr eh? mm?) and the other TW mafia-owned club now called Baluga, was also called Davinchi's (Dav's) ...they serve their purpose. Not a huge fan but godo that there is a club.
They will soon be rennovating the cinema area! finally. heard it will be a cinema, flats etc and possibly something like a nightclub underneath ...very weird planning project that. some say the TW mafia blocked it as it may have a nightclub underneath it and will close them down. been about 6 years or more without a cinema in the centre. (I can walk to the newer one) even stranger is the fact that its directly opposite the council offices...wreck of a site facing them every day for years.

The cinema was perfectly OK, another relative owned the newsagents next door (yes we are a large family on both sides). It was rumoured it was going to be a hotel as well, the Clarence along the end of Church Road was one of my hang outs, the Ghurka Restaurant might be a good starting point for the crawl as the food is excellent as well.

Gurhka is good. There is the pub opposite which keeps changing name. Was Biscuit Factory for a while, now summat else. (google says : sound garden.) I think possibly quite a lot of Lambrini / WKD gets drunk in there. We can always send Prince A in first for a recce report. "If not back in 5 minutes, send help."

That was the Clarence and still is to most. used to serve a good pint then went themed and was the Jail House, then the Biscuit factory then something else. Asked for a Pint with a Port Chaser in there and got a Pint of bitter with a shot of port in it. Still drank it as I don't like to see alcohol going to waste was bloody gopping though.

I'll have to recount that tale, a mate suggested trying the place out again recently funnily enough! quite a nice building.
(edited for sake of brevity! : staff friendly enough but possibly a bit fick I think.)
