Hi I am new here, been looking at these pages for the last couple of years, now want to join in. Like to read more than write anything, my favourite thread is the african infantry man of the year.
I am in Bulford so its easy to get bored and end up on here,
nothing else to say got a stonking hangover in Salisbury on a mad girls night out. So nursing my head at the moment. There seems to be a few girls in here including that stacker bloke.
anyhoo,
see you all
PS I am not single and dont take it up the bottom, contrary to popular belief.

Interesting thread...
I'm serving, having a laugh so far and trying not to moan about the Army - get's on my nerves. (no-one I know of was forced to join!)
I think ARRSE is amusing, and contains a wealth of information but also a fair bit of rubbish - a bit like the Army itself!Follow your bliss, it reads on my chest.

HI,
Serving Firearms Cop. Thinking of applying for TA Infantry Officer and got some questions that someone will hopefully answer.
I'm 33 and wear contact lenses. Will the contacts be an issue living in the "field" etc? (apologies if the lingo is incorrect).
Secondly, I'm told that the TA is now certainly not (if ever) a boys club and that deployment is quite possible, can anyone clarify if you HAVE to deploy and if your having doubts about that if your not in the correct mindset anyway?
Thirdly, would the leadership/manageement training courses I receive in any TA officer branch be excellent and assist with the day job?
Thanks in advance.....

If I'm correct - You get a gas mask with googles fitted in to them, otherwise you just look a bit of a fool with beret/helmet and glasses on! But I've known peopel wear the in the field - funny when they get dirty and you've got nothing to clean them on!
As far as I am aware (ex reg, never TA) you don't have to deploy - Bravo Bravo on here seems to have done 20 years without a tour! But ask the stabs as it might be slightly frowned upon.A fart is nothing more than an imprisoned turd, crying for help.
