The pricing is 'very reasonable' almost approaching low to be fair.

However, creating a two tier Arrse as AY has mentioned might be creating more grief & hassle than what it's worth.

The Ads do bug me, however being a pragmatic I'm fully aware of the revenue for Arrse so compromise is the way ahead.

I think to charge needs something extra whatever that may be.

You would have to be very clear on terms and conditions as i would imagine people not being too happy being on ROP,s if they are pating for the site.

A quick repeat for Disco - definitely NOT a subscription model. I apologise that this is not clear in the poll. No two tier ARRSE. To address another comment, I don't think that all ARRSE's content being community generated is a problem at all. I think it's the strength of the site, and not about to change. We're straying way off the subject being discussed with that one!

Jarrod, some will use ad blockers and get white spaces, but many will be more supportive and use the remove-everything option instead, if each individual thinks that £40 a year is both reasonable and affordable. I, both privately and as ARRSE, do the same sort of thing with freeware providers and other free-access sites, and often pay for something as a contribution rather than for some extra 'gold' function.

To be honest I think this is pretty much a no-lose for all. We've had donations for ever which people have been kind enough to use, and liked. You can look at this as donations in another skin, but you get ads removed as a bonus, or purely as a means of getting ads removed - if you don't agree with or can't be bothered to use ad blockers to get rid of the 3rd party ads, or white space bothers you.

Oh, and ROPS, banning etc, needn't change. Anyone who gets offended can easily cancel a subscription. For 99% of users it's not an issue.

One thing I may do, to contradict that to some extent is make an extra theme - the old Work-Safe one, which might be a nice-to-have for some. A bit of extra money would justify the work if popular.
