Discuss RAF Regiment... give me strength... at the The ARRSE Hole forum within the The Army Rumour Service website; [Perhaps she could nick John '' when I was shot down'' Nicholls slot commenting on ...
papa quit the big words straight from TAMS.It doesnt impress anyone. My whole stance on this thread is sticking up for the RAF regiment mate. Ok we all have a bit of banter about ''REMFS'' in the army. I know many many of them are involved at the sharp end on operations as we speak. However this is the Naafi bar and if shiney arrsed siggies, drop shorts, storemen ,drivers are going to get upset over a few comments from a soldier in the Cav ,then wise up its only banter.
As for ''the controller'' of the A/C its a referral to the guy controlling the A/C from the ground who was RAF regiment. Not the pilot who was actually flying it.Of course you wouldnt know about that because you are a remf !
Whether they are big words or not is of course up to the reader to decide, depending on where you sit within the CoC they will either be your daily terminology and form the very lanuguage you communicate in, or indeed big words from "TAM's" or I might suggest more likely SOHB.
But you are right its the Naafi, and more than likely going to end up with more slanging back and forth.
Quite right to stick up for the RAF Regt if you want, quite right I should stick up for "remf's".
I shall try to decide now whether your idea of remf is based apon capbadge, or location on the battlespace, or just a collective description for everyone not as manly and heroic as you, which I clearly am not as I just try to mind my own business and run a pandamonium carnival and steal wives.
The RAF Regt (and RAF Armourned Car Squadrons before that) have been parking outside the NAAFI for decades in the middle east. What the fcuk is the problem with that!
