On a Hot morning in cyprus I found the meaning of anger. Fortunataly I was comftably numb.
The RSM and various other NCO's seemed very agitated.
maybe they should look into counselling?

And how many were lost before the formation of the RAF Regiment?

As airfields are usually well behind the lines the chances of 'losing' one are fairly slim; and if they go due to 'strategic withdrawals' then the RAF will have left them long before the enemy pitch up and therefore will claim that it was not lost to the enemy as they had given it up

I agree that the RAF Regiment were formed for a purpose - is that purpose still valid though?
Haven't a clue but in subsequent years there were some very close calls. For example Meiktila in Burma in 1945.

The purpose is still valid as someone would still have to provide airfield defence. It wouldn't take much for alot of damage to be caused by very few people armed with low tech weapons in places like Iraq and Afganistan. Are you saying that the security of expensive and limited resourses should be left to non-specialists on an ad-hoc basis?

Perhaps someone can answer this for me. Is it true that RAF Police and RAF Regiment personnel are in the same trade bracket?

I've just read through this thread and in a few cases, I've never read such un-informed Sh1te in my life!!!!!

Talk about talking just for the sake of it - some of you guys really do have an overly high opinion of yourelves.

I've just come back from the 'stan and got to say, when 34Sqn turned up at KAF to do the FP, it was a bloody godsend - So much better than the sleeping Romainians.

You want to see a bunch of wasters and jokers? have a good look at 16 AAB Loggies - what a bunch of c0cks of the highest order.

Not everyone can be out on the ground in Helmand, and the MOB has got to be protected - regardless. Thats what the RAF Regiment do.

As for them doing gate guard back in the UK - Everyone does it (apart from the scuffers - cos they're far too 'Important').

Some of you guys really need a reality check - and soon.

    Incoming!!!!!!

You will note that Gunner, Fireman and RAF Police all come under TG 8 - in short - the gate guard trade group, with the obvious exception of the Firemen who are actually useful!
Oh, where are you coming from, soldier, gaunt soldier,
With weapons beyond any reach of my mind,
With weapons so deadly the world must grow older
And die in its tracks, if it does not turn kind?

Any trade can be a DI these days. The GD trade went years ago.
When I die, I want to die like my grandfather - who died peacefully in his sleep.

Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Never been able to figure this one out.

    Army - Soldiers

Booties - Soldiers that want to live in close proximity to other men in a tin can and fondle each other, but still soldiers that get to play in boats

Knuckle Draggers - ? Why? Why join the Crabs to be a "soldier"? Makes absolutley fcuk all sense to me. Gate guards with Gucci kit, nothing more.
