Ladies' fingers are quite spongey, which is why they make a tip-top trifle base! As for other candidates, there are some French and spanish biscuits of a Jaffa Cake persuasion but you have as much chance of getting them UK side as you do of getting a Belgian SAS contingent mobilised into Helmand!
