That said, he does seem to have the 'stabtiffy2b effect' on people (i.e almost every post makes you want to bury your fist in the screen).

His insistence on replying to EVERY comment directed at him means that threads turn into pingpong insults, are 35 million pages long and prevent reasonable discussion, banter, and non-malicious sledging.

As soon as I post on a thread, somebody turns up shouting: “Attention-whore!”, “Thread crayoner-onner!”, “Me-me-me-er!” And then it kicks off. Take the time to have a butcher’s at a few threads before you decide it’s ALWAYS my fault that threads get derailed. Of course, throwing a few insults at me has become the easiest way to get attention and confirmation from others. Which is why so many use it as a cheap shot.

It’s not that I prevent reasonable discussion, it’s that I prevent folks from “winning” a discussion. That’s because a discussion, for me, isn’t some form of competition, but an opportunity to hear other opinions and, where necessary, adjust or amend my own viewpoint. If the opinions I hear don’t appeal to me, then I discard them. That appears to be what others do, but when I do it, I'm called all sorts of names. That isn't reasoned debate.

As posted above, there are statements like: “... almost every post makes you want to bury your fist in the screen”, or: “…the prick makes my teeth itch”. But instead of asking themselves the obvious question: “why", these folks just want to take the easy way out and proclaim: “Ban this Mick fella who makes me feel uncomfortable". I have no problem with other folks, but other folks seem have a problem with me for which they’ve decided to make me responsible. I thought we were all supposed to be “grown-up” on this website, some of the very adolescent responses to what’s essentially not my problem makes me doubt that at times.

My personal view (for what it's worth) is that Bugsy should stay. His problem is that he almost invariably tries to talk down to people and just can't resist the odd swipe or two, even when he hasn't been personally attacked, merely if someone has the temerity to disagree with one of his pronouncements. It is the condescending way that he talks to people that makes him so unpopular with most rather than any professed opinion which, after all in his own words, wont be real. He didn't do six years in the RAMC, he didn't have his extended family killed by the Army, he isn't a vegan and he isn't Irish. It's the internet, nothing is real.
Bugsy feeds on the negative replies, they are his friends. If you don't like Bugsy then ignore him, don't post and you'll break his heart.

Bugsy: if you read my post, I actually said that on that occasion it was me who was in the wrong. Interestingly, you selectively quoted the bit where I say that I still think you're a throbber. Maybe you are blind to everything except the abuse and you like it that way?
