If you remember the redundancies of the 90s, you will probably remember that, in the hope that they would go out with a big handout, people deferred putting in their notice . Once all the redundancies were over, and the numbers had been precisely micro-managed, many of those who had waited in the vain hope that they would get redundancy and failed put their notice in as they had previously planned, and completely buggered up the carefully laid plans.

Hi, Cpl X. You are in the bracket fo redundancy. Sorry.
Cpl X prepares for the worst. In 6 months between.
Good news Cpl X, you didn't get redundancy!
Cpl X signs off. He's seen the grass on the otherside, made plans and... quite frankly, just can't be arrsed with it any more.

Delete/Insert in place of 'Cpl X' and that pretty much sums up many SPs' stories. It doesn't matter what rank you are - the conceptual journey is the same. "Am I ready to leave the Armed Forces with a bag of cash and no regrets? Yes? Woohoo!"
I'm going to see what the Army actually does day-to-day without HERRICK/JOA to entertain us. If as I suspect - sod all - then I'll be off. But perhaps I should jump at Tranche 3? Well what would I do in civvy street....might be fun...no stress....I'm already thinking!

Purely my own SWAGwork.
In January i reckon they're going to skip the 'fiels publication and go straight to naming names.

Tranche 3
Hmmm interesting cheers Choc
If this happens then doesn't appear to be any volunteering even if outside the bracket. If it sounds like a good idea - do it. It's easier to apologise than it is to get permission.
If you're not confused you're not paying enough attention

Well it's getting closer to that time of year again. Hopefully they'll be looking at my trade this time, seeing as we missed first two.

I was on the first two Tranches but was secure with my pension. I hope im in the brackets again as I will volunteer as it is only getting worse. Off a conference I was on the other day, any one out before April 2015 will not get looked at. The other observation Corp specific to me was that because of promotion, tours and previous tranches pressed men will far out weigh volunteers. They have just run out of the pool in the numbers to go. My time has come to jump ship.
Pte Edward Haslam Tyson 201202 F Bn The Tank Corp reported missing 17th Nov 1917 Battle of Cambrai Nord -Pas-de-Calais. Louverval panel 13. Also remembered on Barrow in Furness and Cark In Cartmel memorials. Picture wanted of this soldier.

Good point, and it sums up my circumstances. I've qualified for an EDP and pension on AFPS 05 but am waiting to see if my capbadge gets hit with T3. If they don't, I'll NTT to take the money and go. If they do, I stand to leave with another £40k on top. Nice to be looking at a win/win for once.
