Oh, I've had customers in the past claim they never received emails go quiet when I show them server logs showing their PC as having accessed those emails. It's probably not enough for legal standards of proof, but when you get to the point that you both know they're lying, few people can convincingly maintain the act.
"So the server log shows that your computer accessed the mail server and downloaded message number X at 14:37.06 on the day in question and yet you still maintain you know nothing about it? Luckily for you, we now have your computer for a forensic data analysis to help you find proof you never downloaded this email and therefore uphold your claim - let's just hope we don't uncover evidence of something more serious, eh? So - should we keep looking or do you want to reconsider your assertion that you never saw this email?"
You would be buggered if you wanted to access my system to perform your "forensic data analysis" on it.
Shame you weren't serving when she was elected,it might just have changed your opinon of her.
She had to sort the Wilson/Callaghan Labour shit out when she came to power, and also restore a bit of pride in the country, which she did,and the public back then bitched a lot less than they are doing now.
I was & it didn't. Her policies decimated this country in the long term. The 'Right to Buy'.. result shortage of social housing. Selling off state owned banks... result an uncontrollable industry that sticks two fingers up at everyone... & the list goes on. What she didn't manage to implement the present lot will.
I would advise all serving people to be on their guard and not to accept anything on face value. Sadly the people they consider to be their 'protectors', their immediate CoC are the ones most likely to shaft them to protect their own positions.
The group in this thread were an easy target, 12 month rolling contract and received 12 months notice. All legitimate and fair, but it appears the method of informing them illustrates the contempt in which the system holds its long serving Other Ranks.
Do not forget the enthusiasm with which some COs discharged soldiers under MCP, lying and bullying was fairly common practice.
I remember some of my sales force at the company I worked at getting summonsed to a hotel for a 'conference' They were asked to surrender their company car keys at reception as the managers were 'checking the cars in line with the lease agreement'
They all then got the bullet. And a train ticket home.
Life can be tough sometimes.
You are a pr1ck. This has everything to do with shocking man management somewhere in the halls of power of the Army and nothing to do with the incumbent government. I almost fell out of bed this morning laughing at that tit Murphy on R4 slating the Govt. How the hell can that idiot stand in front of a microphone and come out with utter sh1te like that is beyond laughable.
Let's get a couple of things straight here. Someone has dropped the ball, and any of us that have served wouldn't be surprised in the slightest. Having said all that, it appears that the comfy life of the LSL WO is coming to an end. No more sitting on their far arrses in Garrisons in Germany picking out the next Mercedes to pick up and make money out of.

Oh,I'm sorry. I was under the impression we were talking about her Defence policies,if you really were serving then, you must have been living under a rock not to have noticed an improvement in Army morale, either that ,or you hadn't been serving for long.
To pre-empt any statement about cutting Aircraft carriers, aircraft, troop numbers prior to the Falklands, she was elected as a Prime Minister, not a clairvoyant.
You managed an interesting spin on the Thatcher years, she got rid of millstones around the taxpayers neck, mind you,Blair/Brown did an outstanding job,eh?

Do keep up, I mentioned that in post #23. As for the Falklands... it saved her sorry ass given her diminishing popularity at the time. After all, there's nothing Joe public likes better than a nice conflict to get their teeth into + they stopped squaddie bashing for a few months too.
It could equally be a JPA cock up and the system doing something before it was meant to, i.e. before the soldiers concerned had be told face to face.
Quote from Sky News.
"The MOD have been quick to point out this was not a mistake on the part of civil servants or ministers - but a mistake in terms of "sequencing" made by the Army. The sacked soldiers should have been told by their commanding officer about the decision before recieving it in writing"
Sounds like a normal SNAFU from the military at MOD to me.
My pennyworth on the actual "sackings" - it is not a "sacking" being given 12 months notice, it is contract not being renewed. Welcome to the real world outside of the military - in private industry "sacking" means get your backside off my premises now!!" - being made redundant means 4 weeks notice (maximum) and statuary redundancy pay - can work out at less than 1 weeks pay dependant on your salary. Contract not being renewed is just that, at the end of your current contract, thanks and off you go, no additional payment, no gratuity and no pension. So my answer to the guys on LSL etc, is get over it and get a job, you have 12 months to sort yourself out - if you cant manage it in that time, how did you make WO?
