tier 1 pensions lump sum roughly will equate to a tier 2 lump sum + 3 years of pension, its your salery divided by 1/8 and multiplied by the number of years served (so just x by 2 for 16 years service)
tier 3 is basically 3 x salery + salery - the x factor given the length of service (there are other factors as well but this gives ball park figures)
the PSMB at aldershot should give you a book when you attend the med board there, there should be an OH18 fmed 24 fmed 23 some other forms and a 2 extreamly important forms to do with claiming benefits once your out.
the whole process for me took just over a year (unit mo request ed >psmb>apc>unit>leave>out) and i was on sick leave the whole time although for different reasons, chances are the required paperwork will be "late" when it comes to them assessing your pension, and you will get a letter from apc/spva telling you to submit form pen 1 and it will tell you a ball park pension subject to checking, that will be what they have decided without looking at your file at all to give you, if you disagree wiht it then complain imediatly via phone and then email /letter there not very good at paperwork so send everythign recorded signed for, typical govt dpt they maange to loose anything you need them to action.
keep your chin up, apply ot you local caouncil as soon as you have the psmb provisional result, dont wait for the final ok from apc (takes up to 45 days for them to decide) as you will be cuting it short for the out date.
as a bonus all that tiem on sick leave is counted towards your pensionalbe pay.just because i'm paranoid doesnt mean i'm wrong!
and yes i have dyslexia and i fail a lot at using grammer, by all means feel free to point this out i wont care and it wont change anything (and if i dont respond its cos you have added nothing ot the value of hte discussion by doing so)

hopefully they will take into consideration your quality of life, and you will fill out the fmed24 properly and the occ health people will do the fmed 18 on you truthfully and the board will actually have that paperwork to hand.
i hope you get the decission you want, but even if they decide to p8 you my only real advice would be dont fight the system, if you try to force an apeal against it they generally downgrade there reasoning for the discharge and you can end up wiht nothing (especially if your unit wants rid, most co's dont like carrying biffs on the books)
its nothing personel its all about targets and MND were 10 a penney not so long ago, most of them either jumped or got pushed already though, and a P7perm is reviewable by a medboard every 5 years or on significant change of condition (better or worse) buy the grading authority or local equivilent (that used to mean brigade/div med or psmb only)
well like i said all the best and remember dont try to blag them about your condition, and dont tell them you feel fine to do stuff if you dont feel up to it, especially if you have a permenant condtion that will worsen with time.
when i got md'd i could still jog 3 miles now i can barely walk 1 on a good day and often struggle to climb the stairs, if it wasnt for heavy duty meds i would probably be confined to an arm chair.just because i'm paranoid doesnt mean i'm wrong!
and yes i have dyslexia and i fail a lot at using grammer, by all means feel free to point this out i wont care and it wont change anything (and if i dont respond its cos you have added nothing ot the value of hte discussion by doing so)

You can also be P7 Med Discharge, get sent home on sick leave & wait for your date of discharge (that's what happened to me). They could also grade you P7 and give you an Admin discharge but I doubt that will happen in your case.
They may grade you P7 Permanent, soldier on & recommend regular reviews by specialists, happened to a guy from my unit on Med board the same day as me & he was expecting to go!I'm now officially a has been

im hoping for a Med Discharge as im in pain every day and find even driving very painfull plus my leg goes dead after 20 mins
ive acctualy had a visitor this week my SSGT, ive also recieved a letter from the Col who has been dealing with me stating that
he cannot see any prospect of this soldier, soldiering on and that my physio and rru concur with this, infact it says RRU found me unsuitable for rehab,
then it says i fully support this gentlemans medical discharge and have
reluctantly discharged him from my care, will this letter help its on my med docs as well ?

This "letter" should be in your Medical docs. I would advise you to submit a Subject Access Request asking for all hard copy and electronic medical records from the date you joined until the present date. Once you have these you can see what is recorded and if the letter you mention isn't there you can send it to the med centre & ask for it to be included or present it to the med board yourself.
The med board will call for your med records so it is important that all relevant info is there. Your med records will also go to sPVA when they are looking towards your pension and compensation if you are medically discharged, which it sounds likely you will be.I'm now officially a has been

Hi all ive had a phone call today from OH telling me my med board set for next week has had to be canceled because my unit
has not sent the correct paperwork, and that they need a different consultant and not an OH Consultant,
does this happen a lot ?
