And you don't have a grasp on modern fighting. Or in fact fighting at all.
If you don't annihilate the enemy then you're doing it wrong.

No it,s not, it,s called destroying the enemies will to resist, or the pursuit of politics by other means.

I'm sure it did take place but my memories of the actual facts concerning the incident are fading.
ISTR Lx5 and Lx7 Dogwatchers put several thousand rounds of 1B1T into the area roughly occupied by a sandbagged artic in the Jonesborough area. Lx 7 nipped-back to BBK to appropriate the ones that the Puma Slider never took out of the can, before they went lifex.

Doubt if they show this on Al Jazeera

In '78 or '79 an AAC Beaver was returning from a photo-recce job down near the Border. They saw something suspicious so they took a closer look. It turned out to be a PIRA illegal VCP. All the boys were looking up at the aircraft and the crew could see their sweet, little, pasty-white faces staring up at them. So what does a good photographer do? He takes a photo - in this case a 40" x 40" arial type. (It was excellent, by the way. The M60 cutoffs were in position and the killing zone was well covered). One of the boys took a shot at the Beaver. (A hit was found on return to Aldergrove)

Now, that meant the terms of the Yellow Card would have been met (under fire etc.) and so, Rodney2q, put an Apache in place of the Beaver and the crew could have legally done the business. We can only dream, Old Boy, only dream!

    Remember seeing that phot--think it was a 5 x road crossroad type junction,couple of M60's,12 PIRA,(think there was a Russian 50 caL)

Kept you more alert when in a "covert" drop off Merc or Bedford van!
It wasn't me,a big boy did it and ran away.

Nail 'em up! Nail 'em up,I say. Nothin' like a good crucifixion to sort 'em out.

What don't you get? Despite the poor gunnery this engagement was well within the bounds of US Self Defence - or maybe you'd prefer that the 20 odd insurgents moving at speed toward friendly forces get into position and start engaging first? Or maybe you didn't see the mix of PKM, AKs and RPGs they were sporting?

War is murder - you murder them before they murder you (or your blokes) - feel free to PM and I'll arrange a visit to Wattisham so we can discuss ROE.
