Not so far off - apparently opiates have the potential to be a very useful/effective treatment for depression but the moral panic about drugs caused by the tabloids is one of reasons why it will never happen.
Also similar to people who are against medicinal cannabis (although ironically, apparently there's research showing that normal over-the-counter paracetamol actually works on the same system cannabis does)."The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt." - Bertrand Russell

I am pleased to see they have returned your cap badge, belt and sword.
Of course, I wouldn't be happy if any drug was prescribed without proper clinical trials and approval processes but i don't think that this what is being proposed. I can also see that this announcement may be dangerous as it may encourage people to self prescribe.
I don't claim to be an expert on research ethics or on the statistics of clinical trials. However, I have had a look that the attached and, to a non medical person, it looks like there is a fair bit of evidence that indicates that it is definately looking into further.
However, I am not qualified to give an opinion on the matter but i don't think the fact that we are talking about a street drug should deter research.

As I understand it, dexamphetamene aka Billy Whiz, remains a drug of choice for kids with ADD and many pain management drugs are opiate based.

Therefore, i think that further research is a good idea.Last edited by Bushmills; 11-02-2012 at 01:36.

RAF Bomber Command aircrew were given Amphetamine pills too. One of the old boys on the TV said the other night. Only one of them fessed up to taking one & said never again. I could see his point too the ABSOLUTE last place you,d wanna be while buzzing off your nut is stuck in a plane.

I can top that, imho.
I sat there and was told to pretend I was a tree, pushing my trainers into the ground as though they were spreading out like roots while I became a tree while I wore headphones that played rain forest music, first through one ear and then the other.
They call it grounding.
I walked out too. And went to the pub.
