If you want to see action, join the Police. I forsee a lot more civil disturbances as the economy fails to get better at any significant pace.

I doubt that. 'Special' people will always have a more exciting time and more chance of going away but there'll always be a role in pretty much any conflict we end up in for the various 'normal' elements of the Army. I doubt it'll be too long before we end up with another enduring op of some kind after we do a runner from Herrick. Military deployments are too good for politicians to go too long without one and there's no photo opportunities or political point scoring in SF.

I wasn't aware that you could simply 'join' the SFSG and thought that you had to be selected, or had of done a minimum service. Para would probably be the quickest way into that i suppose?!?! I'm pretty sure regardless of whatever happens we'll end up following the US into another pointless resource finding adventure, being the good little ally we are.

Better yet, if you want guaranteed tour time with minimal risk, join the RAF reg and mong it in KAF every other month for 22 years whilst telling everyone how brilliant you are in your specialised role of stag slags. Don't forget to take FB pics from your sangers now.

The RAF was considered early on but abruptly thrown out of the window. However, the RAF regiment entrance tests are harder than soldier selection for an infantryman in the army and more varied such as treading water for x amount of time etc so can't slag em off completely
