SNIP
What is more, where do these people go? To quote a military mastermind of our time, General Melchet 'gad, its a barren featureless desert out there'
SNIP
If they can be persuaded to leave their cultural paraphenelia (AKs, RPGs, IED kits) at home, I'd suggest a series of "strategic resettlement camps" in downtown Luton.
If the good general's description of Helmand terrain is accurate, they would, I am sure, feel quite at home there.
RE: The Nisei Americans
Indeed, a shameful episode, but AFAIK, there was no actual insurgency underway among Japanese-Americans. And IIRC, we did something similar to Anglo-Jerries in WWI.Britain's bloodiest post-WWII battle - the full story is told at last:

We banged 'em up, mainly on the Isle of Man. But I don't think we recruited from the camps for them to fight, whilst their families were still interned.
It got really nasty, even for those who were only German by name after long years in Britian, when the Lusitania went down. And, of course, the most famous of our people with German Origin changed their name from the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to Windsors, after one of their palaces.
The Mountbattens also changed their names, previously being Battenbergs (like the cake!). Perhaps Victoria I's plan to name her son Wettin (an old anglo-saxon name) would have been better.
Incidentally, the Gotha... was an early Heavy Bomber used by the Germans to bomb Britian during Op Turk's Cross. Just prior to the name change :D

Thats a stupid myth. It originated when someone lumped together KIA and WIA.
The British casualties in Helmand are still 2x higher than those of the US.
The original number of USMC KIA was 30, and 80 WIA = 110 casualties.
Despite all of this the USMC is still on the offensive. Its LAR battalions are patrolling the Pakistani border and infantry combing the poppy fields. These are veterans of Al Anbar, very experienced and aggresive riflemen.
Same 6th Marines who took Bellau Wood from the Germans in 1918 and stood in their way outside of Paris.

No, my navigation is kinda poor, I was supposed to land at Whitehaven...is this ireland or something?

In all honesty, it wasnt me who was trolling.
That myth needed to be set straight, but seeing as how the US Marines once again proved everyone wrong in Sangin...I see how you people cope after your Marines were once again bested, you just had to find a way to get back at the USMC.
