Re: ACF Adult Instructor Recruitment Thread
Check out the threads on the main board - no - ACF Commissioned Officers, although they have a TA Type B, they are not eligable for call up.

Re: ACF Adult Instructor Recruitment Thread
I'm very interested in joining the ACF as an AI. I've had a read through this thread and had a look at the ACF website. Both talk about the benefits of being involved in the ACF, which I have some experience of having been in the CCF whilst at school and now as a member of the OTC.
But is there anything that AIs out there don't like about the ACF?
Constructive comments only please, and if people have genuinely not had any bad experiences that would be good to hear too.

Re: ACF Adult Instructor Recruitment Thread
A number of other users of the OTC and ACF board can vouch for the fact that I am not a journo, particularly those who frequent the Wales UOTC Thread II. But in my opinion that GP Rifle thread hardly seems to warrant any reason for suspicion, no one who proceeded to fill the following 6 pages with their comments thought so. I can't imagine Army Cadets failing their weapon test being news worthy even on a really slow news day. I appreciate that journos do visit this website looking for dirt on the forces, but I got a great deal out of my time with the CCF.
At present I spend much of my university vacation time with the Tall Ships Youth Trust. One of the best things about working with this charity is when I've had someone in my watch from an underprivileged / disadvantaged background, and they've really enjoyed and benefited from the experience of working on a Tall Ship. Unfortunately due to the nature of the voyages, I've never been able to see for myself whether such an experience really can change people for the better, but I'd like to think it does.
By becoming an AI, one of the things I would hope to see long-term is the positive change in a young person by being part of such a valuable organisation. I would never dream of wanting to discredit the ACF and the work they do in any way shape or form. As mentioned before, I got a great deal out of my time with the CCF, I feel it changed me for the better.
I think people would agree that it is only reasonable to enquire about the pros and or cons of any organisation before making some sort of commitment to work with them.

I'm sure you'll be fine babyblue. How long did it take for you to get an interview after your initial enquiry out of interest?

Re: ACF Adult Instructor Recruitment Thread
Well done Bloo and many, many thanks to all the ARRSErs who responded so positively to this thread (which is less than 10 weeks old BTW). I have been told that others have been investigating the ACF as an AI specifically because of this and I know that a few of you who are already AIs have been very active in chat, PM and MSN supporting this ARRSE Recruiting Initiative, especially R_D. The Power of ARRSE - awesome :D

Re: ACF Adult Instructor Recruitment Thread
Babyblue,
It would be fantastic if you could pop the entire process* (and any hints/tips) on here as there are quite a few people on this board interested in doing the same thing (inc. my little sister, who wants all of the help she can get!).
*Obvs, with regard to PERSEC/OPSEC
Cheers,
GG
