Some of these AI's are very touchy. (No pun intended).

Why do all these threads descend into some sort of weight watchers in DPM? If you go on a technical course and the instructor is overweight do you automatically think well if he has no pie discipline he cannot possibly know what he's talking about. I realise it's about appearance in most cases but when I used to see cadet instructors on camps etc they were usually followed by a gaggle of cadets thus giving the game (if played) away.

Well to lift the thread away, I'll point out that no adverts for the ACF have any impact at all, other than one cadet telling his/her mates how much fun it is, and they then join, who in turn tell their mates how fun it is, who then join and so on.
I'm sure they aren't put off by rotund AIs. To a 12/13 year old, all adults are larger than them.
My det hasn't had a new recruit in 9 months, but just before Christmas one joined. The following parade he brought his mate, who bought his two other mates along, then more mates of mates and I now have 9 completed 459s on my desk, joining fee paid and their uniform should arrive this Wednesday. They will all be going to a 5 day easter camp and will hopefully all be 1* passes. On Annual camp they will be 2* Training. My det, like most others goes in cycles, with peaks and troughs.
If seeing a fat AI puts an adult off joining the ACF as a CFAV, then the ACF is probably not for you. Disliking people for being fat, or any other aspect of their appearance is a bit 'playground' and very immature.
Shall we have a go at gingers next?Last edited by walt_of_the_walts; 03-02-2012 at 14:00.

It is slightly hypocritical when a number of regular army lazies sit around on rem PT because they don't much effort in. Some claim they have a sick stomach because they don't want to do the hard work of cleaning and degreasing boxbodies and rather spend time going to the med centre for an easy off sick indoors for 3 days. And if it isn't that, the ultimate is when they transfer to the AGC for a sit down job.
I find now this to be a mixture of 'well you can't really complain but you can't talk either because look what you have'
But I agree with walt, there are fat beer belly CFAVs that do good work and there are fat regs also that look fat but have no problem running a marathon or a CFT.

Why do fat regs get binned?
EDITED to add: Because they aren't fighting fit? The only time I get involved in fighting is breaking them up on camp occasionally.
When the ACF is full of fit, slim ex-soldiers, there won't be any vacancies for fat civvies, no matter what they have to offer the ACF. The ACF hasn't got a dozen people chasing each vacancy, quite the other way round.Last edited by walt_of_the_walts; 03-02-2012 at 22:25.
